Come on you guys are supposed to be an audio company and that video's audio is god awful! It sounds like he's mic'd up on Howard Stern's show! I can tell you are using an RE20 on your voice overs or some kinda compressor effect and it makes you sound like a radio jock not a person doing product info videos.

Horrible audio! Come on you guys are supposed to be an audio company and that video's audio is god awful! I agree. Pros would use a lavalier microphone. COS-11X or DPA4061 connected to Zaxcom or Lectrosonic. I think the DPA4061 is a more natural sounding mic compared to the famous COS-11X. Zaxcom has some new gear just about to released that looks fantastic. I made posts linking to those products and even a PM but was completely ignored. Then they go on to buy a jock radio RE20 POS mic!

Horrible audio! Come on you guys are supposed to be an audio company and that video's audio is god awful! I agree. Pros would use a lavalier microphone. Or at least a decent cardioid/shotgun like the Sanken CS-3e. Personally though I'd go DPA all the way with the new soon to be released Zaxcom gear. That's total pro lifer gear that should last years and years. Perfect timing to get in on that new Zaxcom gear as well! Here is a great lavalier roundup. www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/lavs_brockett.html#DPA%204061If purchased I'd talk with DPA and Zaxcom to get the right DPA4061 variant that will work best with those new TRXLA2s. I'd also talk with DPA as to what cardioid/shotgun matches best with the lavalier. Those TRXLA2s offer local recording with timestamp to an SD card! That's perfect vs. the shitty DSLR audio converters! You don't need to buy the receiver then right... build the system out as time moves on and you need wireless range etc. The timing is perfect with those GH4s about to ship to build out a fantastic set of gear that should allow brilliant production results with a total pricetag under $15k. For the sound quality and video quality that gear will allow, $15k with a bunch of nice lens and Metabones... AWESOME! You could break $20k with some Leica glass but heck that's the cost of the company run about car right!

Imagine...
That's GH3/2 vs. Canon vs. Scarlet let alone GH4 and the glass isn't Leica!
Metabones!
Actually screw the M43 GH4!
I'd go real camcorder Sony or Blackmagic Design with Metabones to Canon glass.
Most cost effective solution with a plethora of lens choices.

How was I insulting and not being constructive? I just gave the guy the inside dope on the best mics and wireless systems available including info on some nice cameras and lenses. That experience and knowledge is worth $$$ IMHO and I offer it freely to Emo/Jade. The audio is sh** end of story and I don't play to people's egos and hurt feelings. If he can't take the kind of criticisms I levied then he wouldn't last two seconds in "the business" IMHO. The problem I have is they are an AUDIO COMPANY and the person being interviewed is a FAMOUS AUDIO PERSON and EVEN AFTER I sent PMs about this kinda stuff what does he do... goes out and buys an RE2 type JOCK MIC!

Solidstate,
First off, why, oh why, did you feel compelled to dig up a thread from March to reiterate a point you made -and I heard - in March? Also, and this has NOTHING to do with being able to take criticism or not, but prefacing potentially personal attacks with, "in my humble opinion" or "with all due respect" doesn't give you a pass. Clearly I've shown that I can take criticism -I even welcome it -but what I can't, or won't tolerate are bullies. Consider this your warning.

The audio on the youtube video of an interview sounded fine to my ears as it played through my iPad speaker. Maybe if I watched the video on my reference system I would concern myself with mic selection, but not many will. If you sent PM's and they didn't listen to your kind suggestions, I don't see the value in multiple posts clogging a thread dedicated to a review of an Emotiva product where you give your suggested audio recording devices.
