I have an XPA-5 that needs a brain. Is there any advantage to using the UMC-200 over the Fusion 8100 for a pre-amp except the $100 difference?
I like the idea of having the amp in the Fusion for a second zone and built in blue tooth. But all else seems the same?

I may be wrong, but I don't beleive you can assign your zone 2 outputs to the amp section. I think it is only sent to zone 2 pre-outs.
Maybe someone with a Fusion can tell you for sure. Don't buy it without having someone confirm this.
Cheers...

Yup... When you press that little button (yes, a real button on the rear panel), those two amp channels will play the Zone 2 output. This gives you the option of using the Fusion 8100 as a 5.1 receiver (with connections for five speakers) with a separate stereo zone (with its own two speakers) I may be wrong, but I don't beleive you can assign your zone 2 outputs to the amp section. I think it is only sent to zone 2 pre-outs. Maybe someone with a Fusion can tell you for sure. Don't buy it without having someone confirm this. Cheers...

Is there an advantage using the UMC-200 over the Fusion 8100 for a pre-amp? I did not see an answer but I am definitely interested!

Ditto, why would I pay $599 for the UMC-200 when I can get the Fusion 8100 for $499, and it has some amplifiers included. Are there ANY differences between the UMC-200 and Fusion 8100's preamp stage?
Thanks,
Phil

Grab the 8100 while you can. Don't worry about the rest.

Looks like the Fusion 8100 will find a home in my hi-fi.

Just ordered an 8100 yesterday. My wife gave me the go ahead as long as she can fire up her techno dance tunes and my son can go retro with Hendrix and The Doors. It will be nice to get my gear working again. My old Onkyo Integra went to the big sound room in the sky leaving my AR-98LS speakers looking for a friend. Can't wait. Going stereo only.
