Electronics are very temperamental.
As you can probably guess I am not an electrical engineer. However with the experience of being on these forums particularly Emotiva it's a big help along with getting on the Internet and doing your own investigating into a problem one might have with their system.
Here is another story that still has me sctratching my head.
I purchased two Emotivia XPA1's recently. They worked fine but after about a week ten days I noticed that when I turned them on the blue LED light was moving across the front panel and making a static noise thru my speakers. I called Emotiva tech support who were helpful trying to eliminate the problem by first disconnecting all of the cables leading to the XPA1's.
By the way the cables both speaker and balanced cables were NEW.
No luck.
I reluctantly shipped both amps back to Emotiva. I was still in the 30 day window that I could have returned them and get my money back however the XPA's opened up my B&W804S speakers more than ever before. I was hearing things that I did not hear before with my cd collection so needless to say I did not want to give up on the XPA's.
Upon Emotiva receiving my amps they were on the test beech for a number of days only to fine that nothing was wrong with the amps. My choices were to take ownership of the orginal XPA's, ask for new ones, or get a refund. I chose to ask for new amps.
Along with the new XPA's I purchased two heavy duty power cables from Emotiva which were shipped promptly. As a matter of fact I received the cables the day after I received the amps.
The cables were a very tight fit on the back of the XPA's and also into the two 20amp dedicated circuits that are running them.
Since, there has never been an issue and I have turned these amps on and off DOZENS of times.
In conclusion, I feel that the orginal power cords were not (IN MY HOME THEATER ENVIORMENT)giving protection from any noise that may have been produced from my surrounding cables.
Of course this is my opinion. I cannot say without a doubt that the standard power cables that are shipped with the XPA's are inferior. I just know that in my particular situation the upgraded power cords seem to have eliminated an annoying problem.
