Sonos finally plays Google play music

I've never used Sonos, but is it really worth the price for one of their streaming units like the Sonos Connect? I feel it's a better alternative to buy an HTPC and control it with a smart phone. You can then get video and pictures on top of music streaming.

I would have purchased a whole system if they had a good AirPlay solution. Adding an airport express isn't a solution.

Whether it's worth it or not depends on your needs. I use mine to stream all over my house...my home theater/stereo room, kitchen, great room, pool, deck, hot tub room, master suite, and 1 portable zone that I can take outside to my front porch, my garage, my loft area, etc. And, I have 4 different line in's going to the system that I can also play (so, for example, if I want the audio from a sporting event that's on DirecTV while I am in the pool - no problem!)

The ability to use the 1 controller to control each zone's source and volume independently is fantastic. That I can be in my theater using it while my kids are listening to something else in the pool...fantastic.

By the way, I also do have an HTPC that can feed my stereo system with music from my NAS or the net. Sometimes on my stereo, I use the Sonos and sometimes I use a wireless keyboard controlling my HTPC.

So for me...it's worth the price. For others, it may not be.

I like to use my Sonos when I'm in the pool, but then my neighbor comes out screaming, "Get the hell out of my pool!"

I am playing Google play music using the Sonos connect via optical ---> XDA-1-----> USP-1----> XPA-2-----> Def. Tech BP7006's. The sound is awesome. I recently ditched MOG and I am really enjoying the improved quality sound, compared to Pandora via the same set up.

It sounds nice over Spotify as well. Also, the Airport solution works well and is a simple icon within the Sonos app. Love my Sonos setup!
