Wondering who out there has an XPR-2 driving a pair of Studio 100's? I just sold my XPA-1's and purchased an XPR-2 which is getting dropped off at FEDEX today (woohoo!). In a few weeks I will be the proud new owner of a pair of Studio 100v4's.
I also currently have a pair of Axiom Audio M80's...which I will also be able to audition on with the XPR-2 and also an XPA-2.
As is obvious I can't make up my mind WHAT I want....but will need to soon as my wife will not be very happy at all this audio gear...:-)
Anyone with experience with either of these speakers and an XPR-2 would be appreciated.

Hey man, congrats!
Honestly, I would listen to them both first before taking the advice of others. This will sway your opinion. You have the opportunity coming up shortly. Let your ears decide, post your findings, and then make a decision.

I've listened to an XPR-2 and I have the m80's just not both together. But I will be shortly What is your source? BTW your XSP-1 pre-amp is FINE. I'm surprised you went from XPA-1 which was fully balanced to an XPR-2 which is not. But the XPR-2 is a fine amp. I doubt you would be dissapointed.

Thanks garbulky, my intent was really to sell the XPA-1's, buy and XPA-2 and allocate more $$$ to my 2-channel speakers. In the midst of doing that I ran across what I believe is a very good deal on an XPR-2. Getting it for $1100 shipped. So I will shortly have BOTH the XPA-2 and the XPR-2 and can evaluate both of them. I will also be able to evaluate the M80's and also some Studio 100v4's as mentioned. Should be fun!!

I wouldn't worry too much about the amp, both of those amps are of very high quality and will provide you with more than ample power. Your best bet is to spend your time and money making sure that that the room and speakers work as well as possible (ROOM TREATMENTS!!) This will result in much better sound quality than swapping high quality amps.

I currently have the XPR-2 amp, and have new Axiom M80s (version 3 3.5 or 4 depending on which day you look at the Axiom website). The XPA-2 (which I've previously owned) is a more dynamic sounding amplifier than the XPR-2. The XPR-2 does a better job of throwing a soundstage, though. I'll post a review when I get my Axioms in.

Well my XPR-2 arrived late last week and my Studio 100v4's arrived yesterday (Sunday) thanks to oppman99. Haven't had much of a chance to listen to them and have not done any A-B comparison yet. Before the 100's arrived I was REALLY enjoying the Axiom M80v2's with the XPR-2...we'll see have the 100v4's stack up to them.

Please fill us in. I know I am dying to get an update. I currently own a G2 XPA2, and love it. I am considering either an XPR2, or some smaller mono blocks, XPA 1L. Since you've owned XPA1, XPA2 and now XPR2, which you've tested on two great sets of speakers, I would love to hear your opinion!
Best Regards,

Hi Jay since we last talked I did get a chance to listen to an XPR-2 with M80 V4's driven by an oppo 105. The oppo is a fine player indeed. But...if you stick an XSP-1 in the mix, WOWZA. It was the best sound i'd ever heard. It was like the entire sound was given a jolt of adrenaline and woke up. Very controlled and powerful thanks to that XSP-1. Don't ask me why.
