I've been playing with my new toy all afternoon, all I can say is wow. It's controlled by a xda 2 thru Def Tec studio 350 and REL sub. I am 72 years old and this is my first real hifi rig. The build quality is top notch and love the way it looks. The sound is superb.
Thanks for letting me brag.

Welcome to the Zoo, most of us are tame. I'm so glad that you tried an amp from Emotiva, I'm sure it will serve you well for years to come. My first venture into separates was here and I'm not going anywhere. Have fun and enjoy your gear and the great friends that you'll find here at this forum.
Peace,
Nick

Hi there. Congratulations on your XPA-200! I have an older model UPA-2 (not UPA-200) which is similar to the design of the XPA-200 minus some capacitance. It's nearly identical in design if you look at the interior pictures with the twin amp blades etc. I really like my amp and I can definitely see why you like yours! What is nice about Emotiva amps in general is that they really know what they are doing with them. They are resolving enough to be able to show off differences in DAC's. The best sound I ever got with my UPA-2 was when I coupled it to a DC-1 DAC I had on loan from a friend. Beautiful sound. Nice and warm (natural) with a very coherent soundstage. And best of all the instruments had a 3d llke body to them. If you ever wonder what's the next step - and I'm not saying you will! - you may want to consider an audition. Also a nice upgrade choice is the XSP-1. Very musical imo. At my friend's place I've listened to the deftech sm65 mated to an Oppo 105 and an Emotiva XPR-2. It was able to create a nice dimensional sound which I found nice. Congratulations on your first Hi-fi! I think you made a WISE choice going with Emotiva! I hope you have many happy years of listening with it! And I am thrilled you get to experience good sound! For me, a hifi is like a time machine....a way to experience things that I would never have been able to experience with my finances. You can't put a value on that! Do you have a computer or laptop device near your sound system? You can browse www.youtube.com for tons of old songs and hear hem in better quality than you ever remembered! Just hook it up to your XDA-2 via optical or coax digital output. If your computer does not have it, just use a cheap $5-10 USB cable to connect it. For instance or just search for your favorite old bands like the beach boys, fats domino, the platters, what have you!
