Keep in mind that the prices for these amps is *way* below that of the retail competition. Even if you have to pay for return shipping, you are still ahead economically than if you had purchased the unit at retail pricing. One thing Emo will probably do is to extend to the customer their shipping rate, which is substantially less than what you would normally pay. Additionally, it may be possible to simply do a board swap. In that case, you will not have to pay anything, Emo will bear the cost of shipping the part(s) to you. Good luck! CD I doubt Emotiva would want the customer to replace the board themselves. Even if the process is fairly straight forward, I would think there are just too many variables. Extending the shipping rate would be what I would push for if they do not offer to pay for the freight.

I have done a few Emotiva board swaps (freight to and from Australia is killer) and they were relatively easy. I've not done an XPR amp, although I suspect that they would be no harder than any other.
Cheers Gary

When my xpa-5 blew a channel, I replaced it myself. They sent me the parts and I fixed it. It was still under warranty btw.

We shall see...

Return shipping paid by the buyer is not uncommon at all. For example, Amazon has a policy where shipping and handling charges for returning items shipped by a seller are borne by the buyer. Also, Amazon charges a flat fee of $4.99 plus $0.75/lb for electronics. For a heavy amp that'll easily top $100. im up in Canada and have to pay the shipping to buy and pay shipping to return if problem.. most companys up here the customer pays return shipping...

So I guess the XPR-1 amp is not that expensive if you substract the shipping cost...nice!

Sorry for your troubles darksky. I had purchased two XPA1's and within a couple of weeks had to ship them back to Emotiva. They both operated however on both ampfiliers the LED's shot across the front panels when turned on and I had noise coming from both left and right main speakers. Long story short. Emotiva picked up both shipping to and from charges. There is no way if you are in the 30day window that you should have to pay any shipping charges.
Nick at Emotiva took care of me and handled the situation professionally. They worked on the XPA's for about two weeks and found nothing wrong with them as they said they ran these amps for a few days. I was asked if I wanted new amps or if I wanted to take the serviced amplifiers back. For peace of mind I asked for new XPA's. Along with that I purchased two heavy duty power cords from Emotiva and since have not had any issues..the XPA's are running flawlessly.
I think things will work out. I know it's hard and frustrating but patience is the key word. Emotiva will come thru for you.

I am going to withhold judgement or comment until they actually decide how it will be handled. But, I hope this is not going to cost me several hundred dollars. Were you the lucky guy who had the freight company that kept unpalletizing the amp during shipment? This is way too soon for a failure.

I rarely discuss that sort of stuff in the forum because its useless to do so and you just sound like your whining and looking for people to commiserate with. That's just my opinion and in no way reflects how others should react if their gear breaks.

There is no way you should have to pay to ship a product that is under warranty. Regardless of what a company sells, that is simply bad business and a great way to assure your customers are not repeat customers. Companies that do that have already charged you for shipping both ways even if you never need to use it.

Oh, so you want rock bottom prices, free shipping to you, five year warranty AND warranty shipping? Please, just one other example.......... Emo's low price is supposedly due to their "direct to customer" business model, not because they're taking a bath on each model they sell. If the unit was built right the first time, this shouldn't be an issue.

When they're shipping $1500+ amplifiers these things should not be failing right out of the box. Wherever these things are being made they can hire monkeys to burn them in for 72 hours before even shipping. I'm sure they will figure this out eventually. Also they need to find out why some of these amps are failing after a year when they're supposed to be overbuilt to begin with. If they are selling direct its like selling at a dealer for $2500. No excuse IMHO.
