We are remodeling our kitchen / breakfast area. Can anyone suggest resources for designing speaker placement? I'm hoping to get nice sound throughout the space with some unobtrusive, permanently mounted speakers.
Thanks!

In ceiling speakers would be a good option if you have access to it during the remodel.

I like the in ceiling speakers we put in the kitchen. I find them to fill the space a bit more evenly than in wall speakers. At least for general ambient sound.

You could put a total of 4 speakers in that area if you want better coverage. There is never really going to be a perfect place to put them in this environment as there is no typical seating position. They are simply background music as people are gathering in the kitchen or preparing meals. I would just put them in with the best coverage you can and so that they look ascetically pleasing. You can do this by placing them in line with lights, but be sure that you keep them a bit away from the actual light so that there isn't electrical interference.

The satellites sit on the kitchen table, against the wall (they are small). Sub is under the table. Z-623 sounds amazingly good, for $128. The Kindle can retrieve all audio files wirelessly from my music server. www.amazon.com/Logitech-980-000402-Speaker-System-Z623/dp/B003VAHYTG
