My blu ray player died and am looking to just add an internal blu ray player to my HTPC instead. Any recommendations?

I've been using an LG Blu-ray internal drive in my HTPC since May 2012. No issues to report and it's played every disc I've thrown at it, BDs as well as DVDs and CDs.

I have JRemote but have only used it for MKV videos. Am I safe to assume with a BD Player in my HTPC, I'll be just as happy as using a standalone BD Player?

I might have an internal LG bluray player available for sale here soon. I have a friend buying one of my gaming rigs I built and he might want to leave the player out of the purchase price. I will let you know if it comes up. Somewhere along the lines of $50.

You sacrifice just a little bit of speed for ultimate reliability. Plextor was the king of DVD and later Blu-Ray for years, IMO. I currently use a PX-LB950UE with external sATA. Sadly they don't appear to sell Blu-Rays anymore. I also use their SSD drives which just get better and better.

Been using a Lite-On Blu-ray drive model IHOS104 for a couple years now, it was very inexpensive and has performed flawlessly.
For Blu-ray software my favorite is TotalMedia Theatre 6 Blu-ray software.
Also yes when setup right an HTPC can be nicer than a stand alone Blu-ray player.

Any drive will be fine, most of them are just OEM's anyways. I generally use LG but I also have a pioneer and it's fine as well.
