Stevie Nicks. When she's not mumbling. ...wait a minute...forget I mentioned her. Sorry. lolo, mumbling,.lol. yeah she seemed to do that a lot, she sure was easy on the eyes back in the day. She had a unique voice when she really wanted to use it, a Janis Joplin kind of voice, but for me, them two wouldn't be on my top ten list.

After playing the Youtube that vinylfreak posted, I wound up buying this album. It is excellent. Ms. London has a lovely and very expressive voice. I like Diana Krall, but more her uptempo numbers. When she sings something slow, I get bored. But when this woman sings something slow (or anything for that matter), she really knows how to phrase it.

I saw mention of Katey Segal and was very surprised on that one. I thought it was terrible and it took away from my enjoyment of SoA.
I liked the references to Tarja and a few other from the symphonic metal genre.

I like two kinds of singers, technically excellent ones, and emotionally communicative ones. Sometimes the singer pulls them both off! Here are some of my favorites:
Ella - the best, nobody really close Diana Krall - more than a beautiful lady Eva Cassidy - when she does not over-soul she can break your heart, hear Fields of Gold Allison Kraus - an angel Mavis Staples - Aretha dreams she is Mavis, when she has good dreams, she dreams she is Christina Aguilera when she has nightmares Annie Sofie von Otter - her pop album has both amazing technique and wonderful emotions
Rats, a client just got here. I could go on!
