muraudio.com/I just thought this was interesting that Muraudio has made the world's first omni-directional electrostatic speakers. Fascinating technology, but a little pricey!

I love that they charge $1200 extra for the special finishes. Man, you'd think you'd just put a funny note in there like "we aren't going to charge you extra for the special finish... when we're charging you $58K for the speaker".
At any rate, these seem to be in the same sort of space as the MBL speakers. I'd love to have a pair to listen to.

^Agreed that they're in the price category as MBLs but nowhere near as attractive. MBLs are simply stunning and look as good as they sound. Myself, jlafrenz and LCSeminole were fortunate to listen to 2 pairs at Axpona a couple of years ago. Now if only that lottery comes through!

Fabulous - by the look of the pics they are not only omni-directional but also wire-less! (oh, silly me - finally, a photo of some speaker cables in the Review section...) Seriously, I would love to hear them. Hoping that such technology becomes part of the 'trickle-down' effect to suit my wallet. Having said that, I'm with Hemster, I think the MBLs top them in looks - just saying

Yeah, the black and white just does nothing for me. Surely for that price they could come with more pleasing paint job! Funny, they look like old time milk bottles or something, lol. The MBL's look more like they are from the top of gate posts of an old English castle. Lol

The idea sounds like it would be great, but the speakers themselves are sort of Dalek looking.

I'm guessing that they just have N thin flat panels going around the device, sort of like old round churches. Attachments:

I've also heard the MBLs, and autiger, if you ever find them at a garage sale, call me, because I'm buying everything else there

There have been omnidirectional electrostatics before. The Janzsen ER139 in 1974 used an omni e-stat array. Also there was a bizarre system called the Cosmostatic in 1980, and I'm sure there have been others. That said, I agree that the MBL systems are in my opinion the world's best sounding loudspeakers and if a set of 101 Extremes fell into my lap I'd buy a house big enough to use them.
