I have a philips cd960 which needs new belts and a general tune-up i think. The question is; should money be spent on old equipment or should it be put into new gear? Should i get a new cd player, or it is worth while to update the 960. Also, should i invest in a dac to go with it, and if so, which one would be a good match for this unit? Thanks

I would fix it and get a decent DAC.

Yup depends on the cost, I have an AVR that the HDMi board gave up the ghost, the service center just qoute me $730, parts and labor!
I might as well get something new, it's 4 years old so I think I'm ready for a new unit in my life.
