I just scored a brand new "200" for a measly $379.00 at the Atlanta show yesterday! When are these folks going to wake up and realize their stuff is worth way more than what they ask??? Mike D.

That's one of the reasons many of us love Emotiva and the ethical way they do business. Up to now, overseas built for the lowest factory cost, very high quality and performance, 5 year transferable warranty and direct sales to the end user. Most importantly they sell to us for an honest profit when they could gouge us based on their factory cost. My XPA-5 cost me $699 on sale ($799 list) about 5 years ago. I still love this amp and plan to keep it for a long time. I'm sure many, including me, would have paid at least $1000 to $1500 back then for the XPA-5 as comparable amps from B&M dealers were in the $2500 and up range. That's why I own numerous Emo products and am on the wait list for the XMC-1. This is the first time since my first audio purchase in 1969 (while in Vietnam) I have owned at one time more than a single product from one brand. Trust me, from Emotiva the purchases have been huge no-brainers! You got a marvelous buy in that XPA-200!

Chuckienut, I do agree with a lot of what you say , BUT , I'm no so sure that I would have ever bought into higher end gear if the point of entry was that much higher. Yes, I DO have a boatload of great Emotiva gear NOW, but had I never found this manufacturer and the reasonable entry price point I'm not sure if I would be in as deep as I am at this point. Is the gear a great value??? Yes of course it is!!! but how would I have known this if I hadn't put my big toe into the water?? Thats my point! I'd still be happy and unaware of the much better quality of music I now enjoy. a year ago, streaming from the internet sounded Just fine,,,,now,,,,,,almost intolerable!!!! Fine for multi-tasking and background noise, but for listening,,,,,,I guess I'm a snob ( spoiled rotten ) not proud of that , but here I am!!,,,,,,he,,,,,he,,,,,, Just a few cents worth of opinion, but at a higher point of entry I'm not sure I'd be here or have such a great group of friends and advisers. Thank You Emotiva and all my friends here on this forum. Nick

I bought a pair of XPA100s back in March. That was my first taste of Emo gear. Honestly, they were the only monos that I could afford at the time and I wasn't real proud of them because of how little I paid, until I opened the box, and then it hit me again when I hooked them up. I was like "who are these people". I did a little research and checked out their show. Im a machinist by trade and appreciate well built equipment. I can say now that I will only buy Emo gear as long as they continue to do business like this. But I probably would not have made that first purchase if they were priced as high as their competitors, although now that I've seen and heard the stuff, I would definitely pay more. Mike D.

If you would like to pay more, Emotiva has other amps (many others) that cost more to much more .

If you think the amps are good you should hear the Reference speakers. I have the ERTs in the living room and the ERM-1's in the bedroom. Excellent sound at a fantastic price. Too bad you can't get them any longer. If I were to sell my ERTs it would only be because I've bought the new towers with the ribbon tweeters and like them more.
So come on Dan! Put those new towers on sale so I can sell my ERTs.

Wow, great score! For a second I thought it was the UPA-200 at that price. I really hope they make it to Toronto, wouldn't mind picking up a XPA-5 for a decent price

I remember when I bought the old UPA-2. I thought, oh well, it's the best I could do. Hopefully it's not pathetic. But it's now been pretty obvious that their quality electronics extended all the way down to what was their entry level u-series product. An excellent purchase. Definitely not a cheapo unit for sure.

Does no-brainer have to due with the wisdom of the purchase or the emptiness of the purchaser's brain? Me and my two buddies My two buddies and I will think about that for a minute.

Too bad you can't get them any longer. If I were to sell my ERTs it would only be because I've bought the new towers with the ribbon tweeters and like them more. So come on Dan! Put those new towers on sale so I can sell my ERTs. Agree 100% Ken, I plan on keeping my Emo Reference speakers for a long time. For other members here who own the Ref series, I understand the initial desire to upgrade to the new Emo speakers with the folded ribbon tweeters. Just a very slight bit of caution. Everyone presumes due to all the hype that the new ribbon tweeters will be superior. That might be the case but I would not sell your old Reference speakers until you have chance to A/B the new ones in your room. That of course is what you and I both plan to do before we buy the new speakers. Case in point: I own a 5.1 system with 3ea ERM-1's and 2ea ERD-1's along with a very nice Outlaw sub. I love the power handling, natural smoothness, flatness and definition of the Emo silk dome tweeters. It has a gentle roll off above about 12-13kHz. There is no edginess, brightness or fatigue or rising treble above 10-12kHz like many supposedly excellent tweeters. I bought sometime ago the Emo Airmotiv4 for my PC audio system. I have it matched with the Emo XDA-2 and a 8" Mirage sub. IMO the near field and 10-12' away sound is wonderful at reasonably high volumes. However when I first received the Airmotiv4 I placed it in my living room (audio/HT room) out from any boundaries and spent about 3 days doing A/B comparisons and frequency response tests. The Airmotiv4 tweeter has a superb off axis dispersion and sounded great in the dining area at a sharp angle, somewhat better than the ERM-1. However, the ERM-1 (same as on all Emo Ref speakers) soft dome tweeter does have very good lateral dispersion for in room listening even in the recliner which is outside of the left speaker. The surprise for me was that i actually preferred the silk dome tweeter ever so slightly over the ribbon tweeter. The FR was slight better on the silk dome as the ribbon tweeter rolled of very slightly earlier. Both IMO are superbly smooth and non-fatiguing. Now I don't know if the larger ribbon tweeters in the Airmotiv6 and Stealth models extend higher or not, OK by me as long as they are reasonably flat or with a gentle roll off by 15kHz. The tweeter in the new Emo passive speakers might in fact be superior to the existing silk dome, that will be great. I only suggest a comparison. I love the THX style bookshelf/sub combo especially in my relatively smaller room. If I do think I want to upgrade I will not sell my Ref speakers until I have chance to compare. Just my thoughts. PS: Here is a recent FR graph from a tower speaker with a ribbon tweeter that is getting a lot of hype in forums and magazines. They do have many full page ads. Very nice FR from about 50 -8kHz in their test but don't like the looks of the high end portion of the FR. I wonder how long I can listen to these before fatigue sets in?
