Can the mini-X a-100 be used with a home computer? I would like to do the following: Computer > DAC > mini-X a-100 > Infinity RS 2000 speakers. Currently, I have a Dell XPS 8700 desk top with a Integrated 7.1 with WAVE MAXXAudio 4 sound card.

Yes. I have an XPS 8700 desktop running Windows 8.1.
Your DAC will bypass the onboard soundcard.
When you set up your system you'll have to go into the audio (sound) settings and select the DAC to output sound rather than the WaveMax sound card on your computer. This presumes you've already installed the driver for your DAC.
I use a mini-X with my Dell but its set up to drive headphones rather than speakers. Either way it will work.
Sounds like you are just getting started with computer audio. It can be a little intimidating at first but its not so difficult once you figure it out.

What DAC would you recommend with the XPS 8700 ?
