The majority of my lossless, and beyond cd quality music is in AIFF. After speaking with a Sonos representitive I found out that it's the reason I can't play 24bit tracks to my sonos units. I was wondering if anyone had experience with a good conversion software. I don't mind spending $20 or so on a solid product, I just don't want spyware/poor performance. Anyone have any suggestions?

You don't say Mac or PC, I was using X Lossless Decoder on Mac to do FLAC to ALAC before HDTracks supported ALAC, it also does AIFF and many other formats. It's a free download but I haven't had any issues.

I am using PC, it looks like XLD is rated much better for mac, but the price is tempting!

Get JRMC and try it... it has a 30 day trial, you might also find you really like it.

Bump... If you're using a PC, then dBPowerAmp is by far the best. Note that any program should be able to do a "perfect" job of converting between lossless formats. dBPowerAmp is great because it's reliable, fast, relatively convenient to use, offers lots of options (like picking what FLAC compression ratio you want, and how the tags are formatted), and they now have a new product (I forget what they call it) that allows you to check files that you've already ripped (or otherwise acquired) against the AccurateRIP database... It also handles BULK conversions very well. I simply can't say enough nice things about it as a product (I've owned it for years and wouldn't consider switching.) I've purchased dBpoweramp and it works great

I also use dbpoweramp for ripping CD's and I've not had one bad rip.
