Thanks for the great review! I've been dying to upgrade my speakers or at least try out something new for a bit now and starting to save money. Right now I'm torn between the HSU speakers (great reviews and an amazing price) and the M-Lore (probably would appreciate these more as I'm currently watching more movies than listening music on my system. I'm definitely leaning more towards the M-Lores now

Enjoyed your review pop.
I have had the lore-S for a little over a year now and although they are not in my system any more I can understand what it is like to try and describe the sound. They are a special speaker for sure.

Very nice review Pop! Congratulations on the sale of those old junky Emo speakers! PS: Only a suggestion here for possibly cleaner and more defined sound. Would you be able to slide the L&R Pendragon's out some more from the wall or is that a WAF issue? Hard to see exactly from the photo but they look too close. Also the center speaker is best for sound at the very front leading edge of the surface it sits on. The L&R should then be at least a few inches forward of the forward edge of the center. The LCR should sound better 2-3 feet away from the wall if possible (gentle arc with each of the LCR speakers equal distance to the sweat spot and perhaps the L&R toed in slightly.) Those Tekton's if I'm not mistaken have a port on the rear and thus need some room behind them. (Sorry, but I became rather irritated trying to find a photo of the rear of the speakers on the website or any detailed specs or owner's manual for that matter. No excuse for these omissions for a $6000 plus system ...... Pop, not to bug you but did you receive an owner's manual with these speakers? )

Bass output on those bad boys? All speakers are crossed over at 60hz. I set the Pendragons to full at one point and the bass from the drivers is very tight and articulate just not quite enough for my blackhole room.

No excuse for these omissions for a $6000 plus system ...... Pop, not to bug you but did you receive an owner's manual with these speakers? ) Hey Chuck, The speakers are pulled out further than the pictures show. I moved them out another 6 inches. The ports are 19" away from the walls. They do sound a bit better at the 24" distance range, however that turns them into road blocks, and seems to take over the room so I decided to move them a little further back. Also, seeing as how all speakers are crossed over at 60hz there isn't too much air to move out of the cabinet. Yes they have two rear ports. You are correct about the center needing to be on the edge. That is why I raised it 4" on an Auralex platform to keep it from bouncing of the entertainment stand. Putting the center on the edge of the entertainment stand creates a very forward dialog and makes the center channel easier to locate. I have it as far back as possible to create the sound from the Plasma versus the center channel. Also keeping it back further allows me to create an arc with the L,C,R without pulling the L,R into the center of the room. No manual is provided, that I know of, for the Pendragons. You are right, At almost 7k for the set a manual would be nice. However a quick call to Tekton and all of our questions are answered by the maker. However, manuals for speakers are a little redundant. Your room, your ears. Hard for the maker to guess best location, crossover, etc. without seeing your room. Chuck, if I were to buy this system new, I would purchase 4 surrounds speakers and use them for my L,R and surrounds. Add the center channel and be done. Basic L,C,R setup like the 6.3s. Seeing as how I have two very capable subwoofers in my room, I don't have too much need for extension below 60hz, or even 80hz. In fact, I am contemplating selling the towers and ordering two Pendragon surrounds to use up front. Does this answer all of your questions? Sheesh old man.

Nice setup pop. I am happy for you and the small investment you made with all of the hoopla your are experiencing it was well worth it. YOU SHOULD FEEL LIKE A MILLIONAIRE! I do like your setup very much, realizing how big your surrounds are is something that you can get use to over time. Overall your room looks outstanding and YOU should feel very proud. I myself have B&W's 804 series and as you probably know B&W products do not come cheap. It was interesting to read you comparing the Pendragon with B&W. The excitement that you have and the money you saved is invaluable. I recently purchased two XPA1's that have drastically improved my music listening experience with my 804S mains. My 64 year old ears have had a workout over the years especially in the sixties...LOL.
Again I am happy for you and by all means celebrate...have a party!! LOL.

Sorry Pop, I didn't mean to sound like I was giving you or Tekton the 3rd degree.
I tend to like lots of objective details, specs and tested measurements. I simply get rather frustrated when a company doesn't publish this type of info especially no manual. I presumed the photo indicated the final resting place for the Pendragon's and thus my speaker placement comments were just an attempt to help rather than be critical. I'm truly very glad you are so happy and that is great. I wish reviewers like AR would throw into their reviews some tangible objective information along with the flowery vocabulary. It seems like with the demise of Home Theater Magazine, there are not that many reviews left (or less and less) that offer a reasonable mix of subjective/objective content. I will try in the future to leave my comments for a thread on this area (maybe I'll start one). My apologies.

I like your questions, they are legit. I will update the photos here shortly of the final setup. you were 100% in the right on your questions.

Pop, you remember when I said to watch for those guys in the white coats after I realized the stupid price you were selling your speakers for, plus throwing in the free sub? Well, I told them to set you straight when they arrived at your place after they rearranged your new speakers. Set you straight, get it?

Hey Pop, I enjoyed the review as well. I wonder if you tried getting the speakers into the room a little more? I can see you don't have the space to leave them pulled out from the wall, but I was wondering if that wouldn't give you a wider sweet spot and even better sound stage?
I have followed these speakers for quite a long time and thought about getting a pair, but the size always held me back. I ended up getting much smaller Evolution Acoustics MMMicroOne speakers. I love them, but I sure would love the wide impact your speakers offer.
Enjoy...Ryan

Thanks Ryan. I am actually going to move my listening position back today about a foot or more. I was standing behind my position yesterday and it dramatically widened the sweet spot. The towers are about as far out as they can go without being in the way.
The more my ears adjust to these speakers the more I am falling in love with them. My impressions aren't necessarily changing, I am just loving the sounds more and more. These truly are very fun speakers to have. I had a bunch of friends over for my birthday who were used to my old Emotiva speakers, and right off the bat they were stunned by the sound improvements. We are younger adults, so it is no surprise to me that they really enjoyed the excitability of the Pendragons.

I've pretty much decided on getting the M-Lore's as they are a bit smaller and great price. Supposedly there isn't that big of a difference between them and the Lore's. Unfortunately I just don't have the space (or cash right now) for the Pendragon's or Enzo's. Eric's been great as well. Been email back and for even though he knows I won't be buying for a couple months.

On that note Nodscene, I will agree on the M-Lores. After having the Pendragons in room I am really wondering what Eric's less expensive options offer. I don't have any need to go smaller as my room will home the Pendragons just right. Based on what I am hearing I believe the M-lores might just be one of the best values period, assuming they carry the same styling the Pendragons do.
What I am noticing with the Pendragons is that they are absolutely effortless. No matter how loud or low I am listening they don't loose detail.
With the M-lore it would be awesome if you could home 5 towers. Same speaker all around and exact ear level.

Great review pop.. I'm officially jealous. I also know very little when it comes to setting up speakers or subs. I use Merlin ( SVS Website ) to help. Not the end all but more of a beginning or alternative . I looked up your speakers and they recommend three different subs within the SVS family. My point is they provide one set of crossovers regardless of sub. Well actually two. One for a surround sound and one for 2 channel. Might be worth a look.

Moving my seats back about a foot proved to be pretty worthy. I also put a vertical tweeter aligned speaker for my center, as it should be, and put the horizontal aligned back to my surround. So I have the towers and center as they should be and mismatched surrounds. (Does this make sense to ya'll?) The dialog from the dedicated center speaker is much clearer and has better dispersion in this setup. I am very happy I did this, and should have from the get-go. I figured since the center does so much work I would put it's intended speaker there and mismatch the surrounds. I would like to sell the center speaker I am using as a surround and order the right one from Tekton. Shouldn't be too hard to sell a Pendragon center. Anyways, happy happy happy
