$50 is a lot for one record, you can have several others for that price. Any opinions if they are worth 2 to 3 times the price?

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Too me the 45rpm versions are only worth it if I really love that particular album. It's a personal choice for most folks. I only have a few 45rpm versions because of their cost.

I only have a very few of these due to the price. My favorite is the MoFi release of Elvis Costello's Get Happy, one of my favorite records. There was just too much music squeezed on the original release for it to sound good. Spreading the tracks over two 45 rpm records made a tremendous difference in quality. Like Keith, I archived it and usually listen to the high res file. I also have a couple of Minutmen records that were EPs released at 45 that sound really good, especially for punk, but that is the way they were released. Also, the bass on my 45 remix of Relax is the most impressive bass I own.
Recently I am more interested in high res files than vinyl, but if those did not exist, I would absolutely have more 45 vinyl of great albums that I know are worth it. These days, that money goes to high res downloads. But if you read up on the various pressings, you can get a good idea of how good the vinyl sounds, and if you love the music, you will likely love the 45 pressing.

Short answer YES, but ultimately it will depend on your system and hoe bad is your desire to hear more music. I too asked that once and until I heard it did not buy but once I went down that road man oh man. If possible listen somewhere first to get some idea what they sound like. Elusive disc has sales on some lp's sometimes. Good Luck.

I already know I will get the Kinda Blue when it is released. Has any body heard the Doors on 12' 45 rpm yet?

Yep, have a few, yep, really depends on your gear as well. A really good setup Will get better sound from the LP but it really matters equally to the recording. Old adage ,,,,,bad in equals bad out! Some of the 45s are really great and do sound better but others,,,,,not so much. If it's a recording that you have in multiple formats then I would say that it qualifies for a 45 speed purchase. Otherwise standard 180 gram is fine.
