I'm still playing musical chairs/speakers between systems, and expect to move my Emo X-ref10 SW into the bedroom. I have an old passive SW collecting dust that I want to put back in use in the PC system. It's a 10" no-name SW manufactured by or for an audio dealer somewhere in So. Cal. I literally have no information on it; it is a bit large for a 10" nowadays and it is fairly efficient, can be run with 150 watts, otherwise I don't know anything about it - it's nominal impedance, e.g. Before I got my SVS SW in the theater room, this was still in use, running off 1 channel of my MPS-2.
Anyway, this no-name 10" SW has multiple inputs for speaker wire on the back, so this might imply that it is ok to attach inputs from multiple amplifier sources, and the SW would sum up the inputs. That's my big question. Is this safe? What I would like to do is split the SW-out from my AVP to two RCA jacks into my UPA-500, and connect those two UPA-500 outs to the SW. When this 10" was in use in the theater room originally, it was initially powered from a stereo Rotel amp, in bridge mode, purchased at the same time as the SW from my dealer.
If I was able to power the SW from two UPA-500 outs, how would this affect the other three outs (center and rears)? Am I asking for trouble or is this perfectly ok to do?
I can alternatively just go back to powering this old 10" guy from the same Rotel as initially, but I was hoping to avoid piling on more gear. Of course, doing just that would take one more item off the shelf that is collecting dust ;-)
