Thanks, Dave.

So where are all the reports? Come on guys...spill it! Everyone attending had to sign an NDA before being allowed in the room, is what I understand.

Dirac demo was impressive to say the least. My experience was that distortion or harshness was suddenly not present. Also the other bit of information I was astounded by was that for an additional $100 you will be able to customize your listening curve to suit your preferences!! I suddenly imagined how many hours I will waste once I get an xmc-1 tweaking the listening curve bit by bit. In addition I very much want to mention how amazing the event was. Emotiva has taken care of me above and beyond more then once! It was really great to meet many of the people behind the products that I so enjoy! Really wonderful, and positive people! Such a pleasure! Personal highlight is still wining myself a pair of airmotive 4s speakers. I oddly enough had my heart set on a pair of stealth 8's, but oddly enough my girlfriend insisted that I give them to her so she could buy a DC-1 to pair them with! WAF means what again! I have made a convert! If anyone missed the event you truly missed big! Thank you again Emotiva!

Please clarify if the demo with Dirac was two-channel only or was there multi-channel in another room?
Also, did they demo the way the measurements are made, sent to the servers and then loaded back in to the XMC or were they already preset? How long did it take to run the measurements, get the file back and then load the results in?
Thanks!

Demo I saw was a two channel demo, and I did not see the measurements being taken ect. Really a proof of what Drac could do with a room, and what differences you could expect to hear. Dan did speak about the process you seem to be outlining, but I did not ask to watch it occur ect.

Dirac was setup prior to show opening. For the two channel room they said it only took a few minutes to run.

To my knowledge none of the xmc1 units have the dirac software loaded yet. I'm quite confident it's just a matter of time though. Dan mentioned they have almost 3 million dollars invested in the development of the xmc-1. He said they (EMOTIVA) will never recoup this investment in the xmc1. That thry actually loose money on every xmc but will make up for it on future products using the same platform. To me that means a few more processors coming soon

If history is any guide then an XMC-200 and -500 is probably in the cards - along with the anticipated RMC-1 - then the RMC-200/500 etc etc. Should be interesting to see what comes to market in the next 12-18 months.

So we know Dirac was running on a computer with an XMC-1 in 2 channel and it sounded good.
Any other information? Seems like surprisingly little.

Fine, but if that is the case was the version running on the computer the "Light" or "LE" version that we will get in the XMC-1, or was it the off-the-shelf version? Just want to make certain that the reports are "apples to apples".

I really enjoyed the show and especially the fantastic hospitality of our hosts. First class!
The XMC 1 demo sounded great, but the techno speak discussion was funny in a way only fellow geeks (like us) can appreciate.
The Dirac two channel demo definitely took a terrible sounding room and made it substantially less terrible sounding. Again, we were dealing with a forty foot square room with a thirty foot ceiling. Blame the room. Dirac definitely snapped things into more focus.
Thanks again Emotiva!
Btw, if you called ticket 975 in the last raffle, please send me my prize. LOL.

Just want to make certain that the reports are "apples to apples". O think it was the computer version of dirac. The one avaliable now for purchase to anyone. It had nothing to do with the xmc1 just an example of what the software is capable of. You can go to dirac.com now and download a free 14 day trial. But to answer your question directly, I believe it was the "full" version of dirac in two channel. I also believe that the $99 upgrade soon to be offered to xmc1 owners is the full functional version of dirac for both 2 and multi channel functions.

Also of note is that when using dirac in the xmc1 it will down sample to 24/48khz no matter the native source. Even in two channel. Not a huge deal as it was explained to me that all blue ray audio is 24/48 native already.
Dan did say that future processors would support 24/192 with dirac. It's just that the amount of processor power needed to do this is tremendous.
Dan also went on to explain that the length of the mips (I think that's what he said) is more important then the bit depth and sample rate. What he was talking about was a little over my head. All I know is the xmc sure did sound good to me. It's almost impossible to pick out exactly what in the home theater set up sounded so good but it certainly worked well together!
