Chuck, don't you ever come up with bad ideas? Yes the hat he is wearing in his avatar

Request for second or more DIRAC preset for XMC-1. +1 - I could use 4 personally and I have read similar answers from others. +1 on that! Do you believe that this request will ever be fulfilled??

Posted this in another thread, but figured I'd post here too. FEATURE REQUEST: SPEAKER DELAY/DISTANCE ADJUSTMENT WHEN USING DIRAC SPEAKER PRESET OF THE XMC-1User millst pointed out to me a thread here describing how Dirac is processed in the XMC-1 when crossing over to the sub. It appears it goes like this: crossovers -> Dirac -> delay Some (or perhaps all) of us with speakers crossed to our subs have small time alignment issues between the subs and the speakers. I ended up doing several REW measurements to verify this for my setup, and measured different low pass crossover slopes along with inverting my subs phase. Still my best filter setting indicates a 2 ms time difference between my front speakers and my subs (using a single sub output from the XMC-1 to dual matching subs with a wye adapter, 12dB/octave low pass crossover in the XMC-1, and a 180 phase change on each sub). This is actually better than I had before as I was using the -24dB/octave slope at 80Hz and found this delay resulted in a 12 ms difference in time alignment. My problem is even with the best filter combination and changing my subs polarity, I still need to decrease my subs delay by 2ms. With a Denon/Marantz processor, I could just adjust speaker distances. When using Dirac speaker preset, I see there is a level adjustment for speakers, but no delay (e.g. distance measurement) adjustment? If anything giving us a way to just adjust the sub channels would be tremendously useful for many of us; please consider giving us this feature (assuming it is possible). Thanks for chiming in here, Ray, it is very helpful. I just want to confirm that, in terms of processing, the filters are applied after the crossovers. It'll be good to get to the bottom of Tony's measurements, but at least from a processing stand-point it will be good to confirm that the XMC is designed to apply the Dirac filters after the crossovers. Confirmed - Dirac is second last processing step, delays (distance) is last. Then on to the analog world. The graphs that Tony and other have supplied seem impossible. Yet they exist and I don't think they were made by hand just t screw with my head.

I would also like to be able to adjust speaker distances(particularly the subwoofer) in the Dirac preset. I have found this adjustment to be a very effective way to time align the subwoofer with the other speakers. I hope Emotiva will consider this in a firmware update if it is at all possible.

My greatest wish for an upgrade would be for a Dirac upgrade.

The fact that we only have one dirac slot is probably down to a licensing issue with Dirac. What we should probably be asking for is the ability to load different presets from a thumb drive which could be left in one of the XMC-1's USB slots permanently and then switch between them from the XMC-1's UI.

My greatest wish for an upgrade would be for a Dirac upgrade. Curious, What do you think is missing from Emotiva's version ? Personally I wish that they would allow the connection to the XMC-1 to be via USB rather than LAN/wireless For some reason connection to the DDRC-88A via usb is many times more robust/reliable. Functionally I don't see any differences between Emotiva's implementation of Dirac and minidsp's

HDMI upgrade maybe at some point in the future but not even certain of that.

Yes Dirac Unison, that should be something quite special

I'd pay $500 for an Atmos upgrade. 7.1.4 .
