In the past, I've referred to the DC-1 volume control as greased lightning. Nothing in the past year has changed my opinion on it. I'm wondering if there are people out there that have been able to control it better than I have. My question is, what's the minimum increment or decrement you are able to manage that is larger than 0.25 with 1 button press. I can either get 0.25 change or 3.75 change. If I try real hard a few times in succession, I might hit a 3.0 db change. So, who's the fastest "gun" in the lounge?

2.25 is the smallest change I've been able to manage with the remote. That includes the .25 from the initial button press. Most of the time I use the knob.

Interesting...I have never looked at increments, but I never noticed an issue. I used to have a USP-1, and THAT was a trigger-happy volume control. The XSP-1 is far better. With the DC-1, I didn't notice any issues like I had w/the USP-1 when I used it volume control. These days, I use the XSP-1's or the one built into Sonos. I will try to go check the speed/dB jumps if using the DC's volume control.

That is, it's a coarse control (using the remote). So, even with a quick press-and-release the volume would go up significantly. With the DC-1 you have the ability to jump 0.25 db at a time so it is a fine (as opposed to coarse) control. However, you either get 0.25 with a quick press and release or around 3 db with a slightly longer press. If I wanted to increase the volume by 1.5db, say, I'd have to do 6 press-and-releases instead of being able to do 1 press-and-release where it goes up slowly enough for a human to respond.
