Hi Keith,
I realize there is a lot about the Atmos home system that has not been revealed yet, but what are your thoughts on using the UAC 8.2 speakers as the Atmos "heights"? I'd use four of them with an all Klipsch Heritage 7.2 system. How important it timbre matching for the in-ceiling speakers? My gut says not very. From what I read, the UAC 8.2 is more of a full range speaker than most in-ceiling speakers which sounds like a good choice for the Atmos heights. Any particular problems with the Klipsch being 96-105 dB sensitivity 8 ohm designs vs. the 88 dB 4 ohm design of the UAC's? I'll be driving 8 ohm Heresys and UACs with a Sherbourn PA 7-150.
I'm about to embark on my HT build and would like to add the ceiling speakers to "near-futureproof" for Atmos.
Appreciate your thoughts on this.
Thanks,
Chuck

I have high efficiency Klipsch across the front of my HT with Paradigm surrounds. I have to boost the Paradigms to achieve balance in the system. I don't know about Atmos but would think your speculations are basically true....with the caveat you may hear differences in the surrounds as objects/effects move across the sound field especially if you don't have volumes balanced well.
I've not heard startling sonic issues by having different surround speakers but some do.

Thanks Indy. I suppose I'll wait a bit to buy the speakers and by the time I'm ready there will be much more known about the Atmos home system for guidance. Perhaps I should at least stay with a horn tweeter in the heights to more closely approach the Klipsch sound???
