It's great to find this lounge! I am definitely a brand new Emotiva addict! I just bought my first Emotiva gear 10 days ago after putting my hi-fi purchases on hold the last couple decades. I'm was bitten by the hi-fi bug as a teenager and got my first real gear when I started working at Best Buy fresh out of college in 1988. . Believe it or not back then they only had 44 stores and they carried Luxman, Conrad Johnson, Carver, and Adcom, to name a few. I worked in the industry for almost 10 years until parenthood inspired me to get a 9-5 sales job. I have been living with my Adcom 555, CJ preamp, and Vandersteen 3C's for 25 years!
In 1998 my new job moved me to California and life got busy with marriage, career, 3 kids, wife that works, etc. 18 months ago we built a custom house complete with a real man cave that my wife gave me free rein of. It only took me 20 years of marriage to get here! Anyway, I started doing some online research a couple months ago and decided to give Emotiva gear a try because with a couple kids soon in private college my funds for audio gear are not unlimited. I hooked up my newly purchased XPA-5 and XDA-2 last week to my Maggie MMG's and was super impressed at their neutral sound and how they complement my old CJ preamp. I'm taking delivery today of an UMC-200 and my new Magnepan 1.7's arrive on Friday. I can't wait to hear and break in the new Maggies and Emotiva gear. I'm buying a XMC-1 whenever they work their way through the waiting list. My other main gear in the man cave is an Oppo 103D, an SVS sub, and a Panasonic 65VT30. Maybe most importantly there's also a kegerator usually holding an IPA(currently Deschustes Fresh Squeezed IPA).! It's been super fun to spend time in the Lounge - it's helping me get up to speed after all these years away from the hi-fi world.
