I have been lurking on these boards ever since I first learned about Emotiva (back when they bought Bob Carver Tube Amps) and Monday I pulled the trigger and ordered the XPA-3. It arrived yesterday. First impression was not the greatest, b/c the box was tattered.
However, after I hooked it up and and listened it was amazing. What a difference over the AVR alone. I listened to some music in two channel and movies initially. The dialogue was much more clear and everything was more natural sounding. I've got an open living room w/ 13' cathedral ceilings that flows into dining room and kitchen. I'm trying to move over slowly to a decent system. The wife is fighting tooth and nail until the gear is hooked up. Then she gets it.
The damn thing was so heavy. Build quality appears to be high. If my expectations continue to be met or exceeded I see at least a two-channel in my future to round out my 5.1 system.
Thank you all who helped me with my decision to try Emotiva and didn't even know it.
My gear currently is:
Yamaha RX-V2500 (soon to be replaced, probably w/ a Marantz) Focal 706's L/R Focal 700 CC Polk rears bipole/dipoles (don't know model off hand Polk 10" Sub Apple TV Sony Blu-Ray U-Turn w/ acrylic platter and Grado Blue cartridge Cambridge Audio Azur 551 phono pre-amp
Two channel at work: Fatman MiTube Cambreidge Audio S30's

The XPA-3 too was my very first Emotiva purchase several years ago. Take a look at my signature..... Many pieces have been added since then. Some may call it a problem. I just think the gear is awesome. Be prepared to fall victim to the addiction. Welcome.

I may wait to see how the XMC-1 plays out. I'm very intrigued in the Dirac. I wonder if it will offer too many customization options for me.

Have you looked at the RX-V 3020, that's what I have and love it. But if I were you and depending on your needs, the XMC-1 looks really interesting and it has All balanced outs,,,,BIG PLUS!!!!!,,,,,,if your like me. Lots of time,,,,Please, Please , Please don't feel that you have to rush into anything I may end up with both units and do a side by side to see what happens, but I'm way down the list,,,,,unless someone NEEDS that comparison really soon and would like to bump me to the top of the list,,,,,,he,,,,he,,,,, If she brought you to the dance,,,,,,don't be so fast to drop her on the corner, Yamaha has come pretty far in there AVRs but you may just want a pre-pro. Please explain your needs and wants,,,,,,,,,boy, I feel like a dating service,,,,YOUR AUDIO NEEDS AND WANTS ,,,,,,PLEASE!!!!,,,,he,,,,he,,,,,
