Having an issue with the XSP 1 and UMC 200. When in HT bypass I get a very faint signal. It sounds like a radio channel but no idea which (no antenna connected to the UMC 200). As soon as I select a different source such as Phono or Input 1 the noise goes away. This issue happens when the UMC 200 is turned on or in standby. The cables connecting the devices are all Blue Jeans cables.
Anyone else had this issue or any ideas?

Decided to troubleshoot this today. Changed out the ht bypass cable between the umc200 and xsp1 and problem remained all the time I was using BJC cables. When I changed to one of the cheap freebie type cables the problem went away.
All I can think is the shield was acting as an antenna?

It sounds like interference. I had it once with my phono and changing its cables fixed it. Mine was picking up some Spanish language broadcast.

So what do you guys think of the XSP? I noticed they got a new shipment in today. I have been thinking about ordering one even though my el' chepo phono preamp sounds pretty good to me.

Without knowing more about your current gear and planned equipment purchases it is difficult to make any recommendations. However, if you plan on having both music and movies, meaning using both stereo and multi-channel equipment, I would highly recommend the XSP-1. It is a world-class stereo preamp that also has HT ByPass, analog bass management, external processsor loop, exceptional sound quality via an all-analog, fully balanced, differential signal path with vanishingly low noise and distortion, high performance phono preamp that supports both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges, with user-configurable cartridge loading for moving coil cartridges, and Gold plated, solid brass machined RCA connectors and gold plated XLR connectors and has a superb headphone amp. On top of having all these features and flexibility, the XSP-1 is one of the most pristine, noise free stereo preamps on the market, with precision contour controls that allow you to tailor the high frequency and low frequency response of your system for perfect results in your listening environment. Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity pronounced the XSP-1 as the Best Stereo Preamp of 2013. John E. Johnson, Jr. concluded his review of the XSP-1 by saying, "Well, what can I say here, but WOW! For $899, you get one heck of a preamplifier. If it were $3,899, I would still say, "WOW"To read the complete review click on the link below. I own the XSP-1 and can tell you it is the best stereo preamp that I have ever had the pleasure of listening to during my 50 years in this hobby. You will fall in love with the XSP-1 if you treasure life-like sound reproduction. hometheaterhifi.com/preamplifiers/preamplifiers-reviews/emotiva-xsp-1-balanced-stereo-preamplifier.html

I have a question about HT bypass. So I also have a umc-200, how would the umc and xsp work in conjunction? Would I still use the umc for surround sound and the xsp for stereo material?

I don't have the XSP but I do have the USP-1 and the UMC-200. I have the UMC hooked to the USP using HT bypass. Can't use the USP full range outputs with the HT bypass. UMC for surround and USP for 2 channel. Works great!!

The HT ByPass feature just makes it easier to integrate the usage of your 2-channel and multi-channel systems. Just read the User's Manual on the XSP-1 and it will be clear how to set it up. Doing so just simplifies your connections and usage of both systems. Try it... you will like it. It will be transparent and makes sharing of inputs/outputs easy.

Try installing a filter on the line.
