Had a buddy and his family over tonight for his 40th birthday. Grilled a whole beef tenderloin, roasted some veggies, enjoyed a 16yo old scotch and a couple of Opus X cigars. Retired to the living room for some appropriate tunes, knelt down to insert a new disc, noticed a small thread hanging near the mouth of the slot loader,attempted to wipe it off with the tip of my index finger and received a razor thin laceration for my troubles!! I have owned this unit for years and NEVER experienced a hiccup or complaint! Went back to retrace my steps and slid my fingertip long the loading slot....CAVEAT EMPTOR! I have no fear of repeating this error, but if you have curious children that might be tempted by the captivating action of this mechanism, I would encourage a modicum of restraint! I noticed an obvious serrated edge to the lip of the slot loader that had previously gone undetected. Normal use of this device has proven to be exceptional from a semi-audiophile standpoint, and I am unsure if years of use have contributed to deterioration of the slot loading lip. HOWEVER, I must caution all to exercise restraint. Please educate yourselves and gently examine the before mentioned malcontent. I would encourage all owners to consider placing this excellent transport/source outside of the reach of curious immature fingertips immediately. Much love and peace to all.
