After deciding not to see this in theaters in 3d, we rented it from redbox. It's no secret that I like movies that are devoid of plot and whose only saving grace is that it's pretty. I mean I liked Transformers and The host.
But this movie was a letdown.
In the first amazing spiderman, they did certain things that stood out. They decided not to have a whole lot of action. It appeared that spiderman had aspergers or a severe case of social awkwardness. Which actually worked out pretty well. I never saw a super hero character like that so I was interested. It wasn't a bad movie. It wasn't terribly great but it was servicable. Also the special effects were better than the older series. They actually had a real person attempting to do the swings etc.
In the second movie, the cgi was more obvious, the colors were bright but didn't blend well with the more "real" scenery especially his suit, which was distracting. They decided to turn the comic factor up but when they tried it, they went the cheesy route. Not the campy cheesy, but the bad cheese. I ended up not caring what happened and simply returned it before the rhino showed up.
Electro himself was so off putting and I can't believe Jamie fox decided to do that role! The main actor spiderman, though did a serviceable job but even he could only do his best with the script given.
Overall not even worth a rental.

I have had zero interest in this reboot series of Spiderman. Thanks for helping me not to reconsider. I too love mindless fun movies.

WOE not even a rental , I didn't see this one in the theaters either, nor the first one of the revamp series. I don't know Sony is trying to punch up as much cash as possible for this franchise, and they're going about it the wrong way! How was the sounds, if everything fails lets hope the sound track can be reference! Thanks for the heads up. Djoel

I thought that I heard that Sony had to keep making SpiderMan movies every so many years or they would lose the rights to do it. They don't want the rights going back to Marvel Comics because it would then probably be given to Marvel Studios. Please correct me if this is not right..

I really liked the first reboot movie but this second one looks atrocious. Didn't bother seeing it and probably never will.

FWIW, it was better than spiderman 3 I had no complaints with the sound. I've only heard a few movies where the sound was fun. Transformers, Avatar, Gravity, Saving Private Ryan, Terminator 2, Inception and of course the matrix
