Got my XMC-1 all set up yesterday. While I can control everything with my URC MX-880, it is also nice to control volume with the DirecTV remote. Designating it as a UMC-200 won't work for volume. Anyone get this to work?

Did you try the UMC-1 codes?

Did you try the UMC-1 codes? I tried every device listed under Emotiva. Power button will work but not volume (which is what I want). Not a huge deal but if anyone has made it work would like to fix it. Unfortunately DirecTV doesn't offer a true learning remote.

I called Emotiva support, and the way it works is that DirecTV needs to request the codes from Emotiva, and then they will enter them into their database. If anyone else reading this is a DirecTV subscriber, I would appreciate it if you could request this, if you feel that it is of value.
Thanks

If I may tag on a DirectTV question here, I was at a friends the other day and couldn't get his DTV box to output 1080i, only 720p (according to the info button on the Samsung TV). The picture looked fine but it made me wonder what kind of signal the box (which had 1080 options in the config) was receiving? I've only had experience with Dish on satellite which does 1080i fine. Any thoughts? Oh, the TV did 1080p fine on Blu-ray, I also tried several stations like NBC which does 1080i on my UVerse box.

Anyone get this to work? I had a URC 450 and it controlled the volume alright and my Tivo remote will control volume but I am working with a Pro Control with the RF box and the only remote I ma having problems with is the XMC-1, I can control the volume but what I really want is the Mode buttons I have been working through all their codes but it is looking like I may have to wait for the EMC HEX codes. Since they are sending them to the remote company's why not post them for us. Pro Control ( RTI ) is not sure when their next update will be.

Which DirecTV remote do you have? If you have the one with the switch at the top, I assume you are moving the switch over to AV1 or AV2?
It sounds like the remote is in IR mode since you are able to get the XMC-1 to turn on, but you may double check this.

Has anyone had any luck finding a code on Directv that will control the volume on the xmc-1? I don't mind using my Harmony but I sure miss the RF capability of the Directv remote.

I have the IR codes from Emotiva and I try harassing DirecTV every so often to get them to add the codes to their database, but it goes into a black hole. I will keep trying and maybe someday they will do it. If you called them and requested also, maybe that would help if they hear it from more than one person.

The problem is that they only have two sets of Emotiva codes in their database and neither works with the XMC-1. The closest is the UMC-200 which has different codes for volume. If they supported learn feature that would handle it but DirecTV does not offer a learning remote, alas.

This is actually a key factor in my buying decision.

This is actually a key factor in my buying decision. Buying what? DirecTV or XMC-1?

Looking at purchasing an XMC-1. It's certainly not a deal breaker, but we really like the D* remote for D* viewing. And, I use RF for DirecTV, and I'd prefer not to switch to IR. I'd guess that 80% of our time in our HT is spent watching D* material. By the way, I posted over at www.dbstalk.com, probably the #1 DirecTV customer site. There are some people with connections there, and I hope it gets some traction: www.dbstalk.com/topic/216237-missing-remote-codes/(And, yet, I know - this is a perfect example of a first world problem )

I get it. My solution is Harmony remotes. They play well with DTV, XMC,PS3,and Oppo etc.

I know..old thread. I found a solution that worked for me. I have CEC on and realized my TV remote controlled the volume. Knowing this, I went into the DirecTV menu and chaned my remote to control the volume on the TV instead of the receiver. Wham, bam, volume ma'am! Hope this helps someone else!

Here's what I have on: DirecTV - Menu - Display Settings - Video - HDMI Control ON XMC-1 - Menu - Setup - HDMI CEC All boxes checked and I have an LG TV with Simplink on. You're TV may have a different name for it. I don't know that all three HAVE to be enabled but it's what works for me. I also don't know if you have to restart the equipment after enabling or if it just starts communicating. Hope that helps! I don't know what the potential issues might be, but not only can I control the volume, the on and off buttons on the remote turns everything (TV, XMC-1, and TV), wait for it... on and off! Good luck!

Kind of round about, but it works.
