Aw heck, I couldn't wait!! I ordered a 6.3 and a couple of 6.1's today. After reading and re-reading Animo's review plus the ones on the 6.1's I figure I can't go wrong. It'll cost about $30 to send back the 6.3 so that's a fair price for a trial in the unlikely event I don't like it.

Personally, I would have gone with 3 of the 6.3's just based on what I heard. 6.2 >>>> 2 woofers, 1 tweeter 6.3 >>>> 2 woofers, 2 midrange, 1 tweeter With more drivers, I would imagine the 6.3 would be a little more dynamic than the 6.2.

Yeah.....I keep bouncing back & forth between having the 3 6.3's for the front and a pair of 6.2's for the surrounds or going with a complete Rocket 850 package. I may do a complete built in bookcase and if I do the Emo's will be housed in dedicated locations for the front soundstage. Oh the dilemma's we all have:)

Roadrunner What if any difference di you hear between the Salk Song towers and the 6.3's? Did you prefer one over the other?

Nope, 6.1's for the two surrounds and the 6.3 for the center. I have Swans D2.1SE's for the left and right mains. Swan was supposed to come out with a matching center in March but there's been so many delays in the ETA and the 6.3 seemed to be a killer speaker so I decided to try it out and see. Part of it was I don't really care for the way the Swan center channel speakers look, either. Unless the 6.3 blends very poorly or somehow doesn't live up to your review, I'm going to keep it. I'm sure the 6.1's will make nice surrounds (due to space and WAF limitations, I didn't get the ERD's).

I still see no reference to a 6.1 speaker. Maybe you mean the ERM-1 as opposed to the ERD-1 for your surrounds?

I just absent-mindedly kept thinking of them as "6.1's" since the steps up from there were the 6.2 and 6.3 models. I ordered a 6.3 for the center and two ERM-1's for the surrounds.

Roadrunner What if any difference di you hear between the Salk Song towers and the 6.3's? Did you prefer one over the other? Boy, that is going to be tough to answer. I heard them about 8 months apart, so making detailed comparisons is not possible. However, I must say that the Emotiva 6.3 easily had better low-end performance. Beyond that, about all I can say is that both of these speakers struck me as being extraordinarily "smooth" across their mids/upper mids... much better than any other speakers I listen to over the last 40 years. The amazing thing is that the Emotiva speaker is just a fraction of the cost of the Salk speakers... making the ERM-6.3 one amazing bargain. I had high expectations for the 6.3 and it far exceeded them. One thing that the ERM-6.3 managed to do that very few other speakers have ever managed was to instantly "engage" me in the music. I was not just listening to good music... I was "experiencing" it. What was so amazing to me was how such a small (relatively speaking) enclosure could produce such a "big sound".

That doesn't mean there isn't still some useable, audible output below that. If you could audition them, you might be surprised.

Well save that because it isn't very often that I make sense.

Animo, which ACI's does your brother have? I have ACI Sapphire XL's as my mains and have been wondering if the 6.3's would match or beat the Sapphire XL center, which is more expensive but designed to match my XLs.

Although at times it feels as if Nick is my brother, in fact we have been friends since our mid teens. His surrounds were bipoles, I don't remember the model # though. He still has the ACI he used for his center, but was too tall to use in his present system configuration, which is why he switched to the Athena Slimline. I can safely say we are both solidly sold on the 6.3 as probably the best sounding speaker we have heard to date to be used as a center channel. So I guess you could say, we feel it blows away the ACI.

So I just got some new Emo stuff - the 6.3, a pair of the ERM-1's, and a UPA-2. Spent most of the weekend doing a recabling/rewiring job with all my audio and video gear since it was a mess back there! Now I feel so much better. I haven't had a chance to listen to the new stuff too much but I wanted to say that the packaging of everything was first class - very secure, and the cloth bags on the speakers are generous in size and velvety in texture. The build quality on the speakers and the amps is first rate. Like I said, I haven't had much of a chance to listen - in fact, I only watched my "evaluation" scenes from The Matrix, Kill Bill and Diana Krall's Live in Paris to get a quick idea of how it sounds.. and it sounds GOOD! Dialog in the movies was nice and clear. I don't know if it is the UPA-2 or the new ERM-1's I am using as surrounds, but the surround sound is way better than before (previous: Rocket ELT's with an Onkyo 706). Listening to Diana Krall's DVD was an incredibly nice experience - I just sat there and smiled at how "live" it sounded. Anyway I know that is not much of a review and I didn't intend it to be since I need to listen a lot more but I just wanted to say how happy I am with the whole experience of getting the new equipment (including the XPA-3 that I recently purchased, too). Edit: there IS something I don't like about the speakers.. I put the Emo badge on the grill but from a distance it looks like a knob so I get the urge to go over and open up the cabinet. My suggestion would be to develop a badge that glowed blue in the dark.
