Edit: there IS something I don't like about the speakers.. I put the Emo badge on the grill but from a distance it looks like a knob so I get the urge to go over and open up the cabinet. That gave me a good laugh. ;D

Roadrunner What if any difference di you hear between the Salk Song towers and the 6.3's? Did you prefer one over the other? Boy, that is going to be tough to answer. I heard them about 8 months apart, so making detailed comparisons is not possible. However, I must say that the Emotiva 6.3 easily had better low-end performance. Beyond that, about all I can say is that both of these speakers struck me as being extraordinarily "smooth" across their mids/upper mids... much better than any other speakers I listen to over the last 40 years. The amazing thing is that the Emotiva speaker is just a fraction of the cost of the Salk speakers... making the ERM-6.3 one amazing bargain. I had high expectations for the 6.3 and it far exceeded them. One thing that the ERM-6.3 managed to do that very few other speakers have ever managed was to instantly "engage" me in the music. I was not just listening to good music... I was "experiencing" it. What was so amazing to me was how such a small (relatively speaking) enclosure could produce such a "big sound". I was looking back at this thread and Roadrunner's post #28. I know in the past I have come across as a Roadrunner fanboy. There is a very good reason. Put the fact that he likes Emo speakers aside for a moment. How many folks here are knowledgeable and honest enough to admit that they can't make detailed comparisons over any amount of time between two comparable quality speakers except to remember general impressions as he posted above. This is one reason why I put roadrunner's posts at the top level in a select group of members at the Emotiva Lounge whose advice I highly trust and learn so much from. For folks new to this hobby I recommended going back and reading as many of his posts as possible. I know I have learned a lot from him. Others might say oh I know all that. They might, but he also has the ability to present it in logical and easy to understand posts.

Its really good to see that someone else has DIY speakers actively crossed over. Your description sounds just like I would expect, apart from interconnects, from what I've read about the 6.3s.

to bad the lows roll off so high, otherwise ide get a pair for my audio dungeon, as i dont have the room for a sub inn there, ill stick with my B&W bookehelfs' for now, til i can get a good speaker to fill that spot They START to roll off at 80hz. That doesn't mean there isn't still some useable, audible output below that. If you could audition them, you might be surprised. Just a note on this, I was watching Doctor Who recently (not exactly a heavy hitter in the bass department, but there were some bass effects) and for some reason my subs were off - I didn't really notice until I was playing a more bass intensive show later on. This seems to show a) how well the 6.3s play bass and b) how well they can integrate with the Rythmik subs I think. Admittedly I did have 5 6.3s and 2 x 6.2s running, so that's quite a bit of cone area.
