I also love the sound system! I noticed today they have four 18" to possibly 20" built in subwoofers. Has me thinking why we don't see subs like this for home theater.

Our church rocks too. lol. Last year we had Meyers Sound install 350K worth of their speakers and subs. The sound is so good it sounds like the musicians are pantomiming to a CD. You see Meyers used a lot at concerts. The last time I saw "Yes" they were using Meyers.

I'll take 4 for my living room!

Some early bass freaks used the EV 30" woofer, I've heard a few even installed them into the floor for an infinite baffle. Here's a system using 6 of them ... WHAT ?!?

AudioHTIT: The lamp was liquified seconds later but was quickly sucked up by the event horizon of the black hole caused by all that bass concentrated in one place.

I was disappointed in the bass at the church I attend. Pretty anemic. I was going to talk to the sound guy about it when I sat in a different area one Sunday. BASS! Turns out where we typically sit is in a bass suck out zone. Now who could be afraid of the bass and stealing it from our chests and ears? Who thinks they are so special as to alter the Lord's sound mix? Who might that be? Could it be ...... SATAN? 8) Trey

I run FOH audio for my church once a month. We only have dual quad 15" subs According to my analyzer yesterday I was peaking out above 100 dB at 50 Hz. For those in the Indianapolis area...here is a link. We are putting on Les Miserables in October if anyone is interested.

Wish someone would do something about our church's sound system. It's HORRIBLE. Sounds like the invasion of a Rap Bass contest. Most horrible and over bearing bass I have ever heard. All of the instruments just mash together when they play. YUCK!!!!!

Our church is typical as well. Bass level varies drastically depending on where one sits. And it is very deep upstairs in the back of the church where the audio control equipment is located and operated! On the other hand, we don't choose our seating area based on the subwoofer performance I would add that the variation in sound quality isn't exclusive to the bass notes. We have several older people in the congregation that say they have trouble hearing the pastor's message. That, too, seems to vary based on the location in the sanctuary. And believe me, it's tough to get us old people to consider changing our seats for better audio clarity. But that's what the staff is trying to do with a small "audio awareness" campaign encouraging those that are having difficulty hearing to try different seating locations to seek better audio quality for them. This might be a tough road, but room treatments as a solution would be out of the question!!

Or, I'm an old fart and I hate loud booming bass........I doubt that's it because others have said the same thing. I don't work the board, and wouldn't know how to. But if I could I would lower the bass frequencies and boost the midrange.

I have a couple friends who run sound for and implement system changes to their church audio. They are pickier than many at local music venues!

Wow, my church doesn't have any of this. The sermon is delivered by PA and the choir isn't mic'd at all! I must be going to Hell. Funny story; when my good friend from college was getting married, he had another good friend of his do a solo for the service. During the rehearsal the pastor brought a mic on a stand and stuck it in front of her. She smiled, turned it off and moved it aside. Before the music could start, the pastor stood up, grabbed the mic and stand and stuck it front of her again, turning it back on. She smiled again, thanked him and said, "I won't be needing this". He said, "you may think you don't, but people past the first few rows won't be able to hear you. We want people in the back of the balcony to be able to hear you." She smiled again, moved the mic away and asked if he might indulge her and, if after she started singing, still thought that the people in the back couldn't hear her, she'd be more than happy to use the mic. Needless to say that this was probably the first time the pastor had an opera signer in his church that only sat about a thousand people. And, when she started singing, she deliberately sang louder than the chamber group was playing... just to prove a point. When she was finished, she pulled the mic over to her, switched it on, and asked very sheepishly, "could you hear me?"
