1) Sorry this is taking longer than I thought - I'll have the updater up for you guys by Wednesday or Thursday. 2) Unfortunately, the updater program, which was written by C-Media, only runs in Windows on a PC. (We couldn't get it to work with Boot Camp - you might have better luck there - or not.) 3) The update itself only takes about five minutes, and the updater program can be run from a USB stick. (So, if you really only have Macs, you're just going to have to buy a beer for a buddy who's willing to let you use his PC laptop for five minutes or so... ) Is this update also available for the XDA-2 and do the newer drivers support those other WASAPI modes with an XDA-2?

Hmm... is the updater program similar to the one from the UMC-1? I ask, as I was able to run that program to update my UMC-1 via a Windows XP VM running on my Mac.

Are we still likely to see this update today or tomorrow?

Similar (not identical), although the process is a lot simpler, and it now runs on XP and Windows 7. (We tried it on one Mac, with Boot Camp, running Windows 7 - and it didn't work, but it may work with other combinations.) Hmm... is the updater program similar to the one from the UMC-1? I ask, as I was able to run that program to update my UMC-1 via a Windows XP VM running on my Mac.

Keith will this ultimately be updated in the normal firmware release cycle too or does this have to be done outside of the normal firmware for all systems?
Does this also fix the 24/192 interface issues from macs and other digital interfaces such that they will be able to natively playback 24/192 in the same way that the dc-1 is supported?
If this cannot be addressed in a normal network or usb stick upgrade then I can't believe that in this day and age we are still having a windows (gun) to our systems (heads)...especially after the umc-1/200 track record.

I normally connect my laptop usb to the xda-2 and use the xda-2 input on the XMC so I will need to update both devices? Or, since the XDA connects to the XMC via analog then just the XDA? But I guess I should do both just to have my bases covered? Also I was a little confused on the first read about the windows driver CM6631 thing. Is that installed only on the PC and not connected to the XMC/XDA? I did find the link on the product page and maybe you can add that link in the PDF for efficiency sake. Thanks for all your hard work.

Well, that didn't go very well.
Windows 8.1 64
Tried to run FWUpdate.exe and no response / GUI.
Checked running process' and see RM5001 Update Tool (32 Bit), but no program display.
Tried killing process - no go. Had to reboot machine to kill unresponsive process.
Not good. Sorry.

I had to break out my Windows 7 work laptop for the install as my personal Windows 8.1 did the same thing as DellaDog. No go with 8.1. Windows 7 worked after the second try and 1 reboot. Not the easiest update, but eventually worked none the less. Actually had to force shutdown both laptops as the process kept them both from restarting.

Quote form the post of KeithL (opening post): Please read the following information about the USB Firmware Update CAREFULLY... 3a) The USB FIRMWARE UPDATE may be installed from a computer running Windows XP, Windows 7, or Windows 8.0/8.1 (with some caveats).

No issues via my XP VM. Plugged in the USB cable to XMC-1 first and then to my Mac, updated the drivers, rebooted the VM and left the USB cable connected. Upon reboot, I erased the firmware and then upgraded. Followed the instructions to unplug the USB cable and upon plugging it back in, XP indicated that it found new hardware called XMC-1. Seems good to go. Now I need to do some testing... fingers crossed.

Just for the heck of it and being the fact that I really hate Window 8.x, I decided to go back to Window 7 (64bit) and try the app again. It now runs on my Personal Laptop as well. I was also able to install the device drivers which I was unable to do using any of the compatibility modes under Windows 8 (64 Bit.) We will just have to wait for someone to try it using Windows 8 (32 bit), However, I can't imagine anyone actually having that installed as most systems that would require 32 bit won't run Windows 8.

Not really an option for me. My HTPC is a Windows 8.1 box connected to the XMC via HDMI and USB. I have invested a great deal of effort to configure the HTPC to handle all my media serving needs, Movies, Recorded TV, Live TV etc. (MediaBrowser 3 btw, great app) & there's no way I'm moving backwards. The XMC plays very nicely with the PC via HDMI, but the USB fails to load both the latest C-Media Drivers & the new firmware install. No sense in knocking myself out to update the firmware if I can't even load the device drivers in Windows, though the manual claims they are Windows 8.1 compliant. Has anyone had success on 8.1? Thanks
