Hey guys I'm about to make some panels, and I'm in the mist of purchasing the absorbing material. I'm not too sure as to what should I go with. Corning fiber glass stuff ( which sounds dangerous as hell), or the cotton insulation from recycle material! I don't really mind the price for the eco friendly insulation as it isn't a big difference in price, but want to know if they're practical for diy projects, and ultimately for sounds panel room taming. Thanks Dan Hi Dan ... I like using the Roxul safe n sound for my panels.. covered with sheets .. cuts real nice with a big bread knife.. home depot should beable to get it for you.. also know as afb acoustic fire batt afb. same thing.. I like the 23 x47 x 3 inch thick .. double layered to 6 inch 6x2ft frame size is a great way to work your project material wise.. with 2x4s works prefect.. make the frame 1/2 smaller than the roxul for a snug fit.. 6 inch thick cheers

This is the communication I recieved today from ATS,
Good Morning Nick,
We greatly appreciate your feedback on the products we sell and the opportunity to identify ways to improve our processes. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to our customers. The only products we carry that would include plastic caps would be our adhesives or our Rotofast hardware. If you could be more specific on which item(s) we need to address it would be very helpful for us to pinpoint the issue. We strive to create and maintain customer satisfaction.
Sincerely,
Heather Walter Sales Representative ATS Acoustics

I got my cloth swatch samples yesterday and they are quite large (about 6" squares), and were packaged up very nicely.
I'm still thinking since I'm currently only buying one panel I'm not really taking any chances here. $75 isn't going to break me either way.

Well considering I started this thread, and it's all about asking for advice on the size, I have to ask, just what are you smoking over there in your man cave? Size I'm thinking 24 x 48 to fit evenly behind my 65" TV. Thickness is the question I am asking. Not sure. Leaning towards 2". After receiving swatches I think I would go with the black burlap. Wall will be a dark blue as of next week.

Got my 24 x 48 x 2 Black burlap panel the other day. Was not impressed with the packaging but opened it up and all looks okay. I haven't taken it out of the plastic yet but will be doing that probably next week when I go to install it. But from what I can see it looks just fine.
More to come.
