The parliament building is beautiful. I was lucky to get a tour back in the late 90s. Apparently security wasn't too tight at the entrance where there perp gained access. I'm sure that will change.

Nothing political here but my President just called this "senseless violence". This was not senseless. This was a direct attack.

From the little info I had, it looked similar story to the guy who recently broke into the white house. A Canadian soldier guarding the National War Monument was fatally shot. This is nothing like the guy who recently broke into the white house.

Another pointless and tragic death.
This evening's paper, just under the Ottawa story, is a photo of six CF-18 Canadian fighter jets. The caption reads "Canadian Jets take off to fight ISIS in Iraq". I guess if you're going to poke sticks at a hornet's nest, you've got to expect to get stung. I support Canada trying to make the world a better place. I just wish we'd do it by sending doctors to Africa, and leave the stick poking to others.
This wasn't a terrorist attack; it was some crazy person going postal. A terrorist attack would have been better planned and done much more damage. Where I live we don't even lock our cars...
Sincerely /b

This was not an isolated incident, it was Terrorism, perhaps home grown.

I agree, we have no business getting into wars whatsoever. We should stick to what we do best and that's the peacekeeper role. From what I understand so far, this was homegrown terrorism but I'm sure we will find out more soon.
Sad to say but I'm sure Harper is thrilled to finally have this happen in Canada. Now he can easily force through more spending for the military, have an excuse to join more wars, and implement laws like the Patriot Act etc. Mark my words.
This is a tragic incident and hopefully it doesn't happen again.

The latest news about this "terrorist" is that he had a long history of instability, violence and drug offences. He had bought a used car the day before, but was pissed because two different government offices refused to issue license plates, because he lacked the proper paperwork. So he decided to "stick it to the man", go out with a bang, and make himself famous.
The press is playing up the terrorist angle, as it sells papers. The government, police and military also love the terrorist angle, because it means they can all go after more power and money. But it looks like it was just a sick individual gone postal...
Sincerely /b
