Given the amazing price of the Airmotiv series, I am considering buying a pair. I also plan to buy a USB DAC to connect to my Mac mini. The speakers are likely to be about 5ft apart.
What cable would you suggest - most 3.5mm to 2 RCA cables that I notice online are not suitable since the actual 'V' section of the cable can barely reach 18 inches apart when stretched out while I need it to be 5 ft. Appreciate your suggestion on the type of cable to look for and a brand you'd suggest.

How about a Y adapter (stereo mini to RCA jacks) at the device and individual RCA cables from there to the airmotivs. Like this: www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103710

Yes Geebo, that was what I had planned. But someone said that it would be best to have a single cable and not use adaptors from DAC to speakers. Hence was not sure if such a single cable existed. Thank you.

mycablemart.com has the cables your looking for. The Rca's can be split at the seem the length of the cable if needed.

I use a MacMini with a Behringer UCA202 DAC and a pair of Airmotive 4's. The UCA202 has its own USB cable which connects to the MacMini. I then have 2 single RCA to RCA interconnects from the UCA202 to the Airmotive 4's. No 3.5 mm stereo plugs used.
Cheers Gary

Yes, I'm with Gary, no need for 3.5mm with a DAC. I use either USB or TOSLink from the Mac mini to the DC-1, then a pair of single XLRs from the DC-1 to my Airmotive 5's (RCAs also work). No 3.5's used.

I've been playing around with pc-audio cables for years in both aux interface stereos, preamps for over the last 20-25 years I found it not best to mix 3.5 mm to RCA as you are going to add a ground hum to an ungrounded interface, and you will hear through, if you must hook audio up from pc's to var's use eith hdmi, USB or tos link fibre optic cable.
You will avoid grounding issues that way, using a 3.5mm headphone jack to 2x rca mono is just going to piss you off with a ground loop audio hum. Th only other cure I can see is have a 3.5mm preamp stage going to a digital signal tos link.
