I have searched but could not find the answer. Is there a XDA-2 gen2 and what are the differences?

That's definitely a Gen 1 (the only generation) XDA-2.

Yes it's a typing mistake. There's no such thing as an XDA-1 Gen II.
Someone at the LA "on the road" show asked about a replacement to the XDA-2. The response was something like, We are working on a replacement for the XDA-2, but it won't look like an XDA-2.
I wonder what that means? The only reason that I haven't upgraded to the DC-1 is it's form. It doesn't work in my rack. It would be a pity if the XDA-2 replacement was the same IMHO.

I have searched but could not find the answer. Is there a XDA-2 gen2 and what are the differences? Your post caught my attention as I was looking on their site to see what the differences actually are. I attended the Dallas road show on Saturday and saw an XDA-2 Gen 2, it had a black faceplate, just like the new Gen 2 products....I did a quick overview, but I couldnt see any other differences from the outside -( but it's whats on the inside that counts right??) Also, the Emotiva crew was pretty busy helping people, so I didn't ask anyone more about it. I was too busy drooling over the XPR-1 display with the plexiglass top...wow, thats an amazing amplifier. Not sure if that helps you much, but thought it was worth me chiming in.

Interesting, they told me In LA the XDA-2 replacement wouldn't look like an XDA-2 (like ocezam mentioned). I took that to mean it would be a small device, like maybe a USB DAC, but nobody said that. Hmm ...

Actually if say your rack was a 19 inch EIA rack, you could use the RK-1 for the DC-1 from the accessories section of Emotiva's site. If not. The DC-1 can be placed almost anywhere, and still sound great.

He said it had some slight updates, but it was very subtle.

So this component actually said XDA-2 Gen II? It wasn't just an XDA-2 with black trim? I wonder if that means no XDA-3 in the foreseeable future?

Cheers Gary I don't know if I'm that strict on aesthetics. Depends on what you mean by "look like the rest of my gear". All of my stuff at this time is Gen I with black trim. I'm OK with Gen II stuff mixed in. But I don't want a half wide component. Aesthetics are a secondary consideration to SQ, but looks do count IMO. Peace

I now see that you cant add a XDA-2 to cart in the Emotiva-shop. You can only reserve one.. Maybe that means that a gen 2 is near?

I could see customers getting angry if they think they are buying silver trim and receive black. Personally I'd be delighted to get black trim, others may not.

Yes; the Gen2 is VERY near The differences are the black trim - and that you can now do 88k and 176k over USB. (The Gen1 did ALL sample rates up to 24/192 via Coax and Optical, and all sample rates up to 192k EXCEPT 88k and 176k via USB. The Gen2 now does ALL sample rates up to 192k INCLUDING 88k and 192k over ALL its inputs.) I now see that you cant add a XDA-2 to cart in the Emotiva-shop. You can only reserve one.. Maybe that means that a gen 2 is near?
