On every CD I rip, there's usually one or two tracks on the disc that I really like, and about 10 that I am (at best) lukewarm about. So I'm thinking of simplifying life by deleting all the tracks I never listen to. OTOH, there are times that I just play a song at random and find that there was a gem hidden on my drive that I didn't even know was there. It's rare, though...
So what say you, gentlemen of the Lounge - Cull the clunkers or keep them all?

I keep them all, once in awhile I just turn on an album and listen to it all good and bad. I use playlists for listening to all the songs I like.

I say keep them. As you said, you my find a hidden gem you didn't know/like before. Or perhaps you have company that may request a particular track (especially if he/she uses said track for critical listening) Plus, space, especially if using HDDs, is dirt cheap these days.

I do it a little differently than most folks. I have two digital libraries - iTunes and HDTracks FLAC/ripped FLAC on a USB flash drive. iTunes library is used for standard rips and iTMS purchases for streaming and general listening. FLACs are high resolution purchases and lossless rips of favs from CDs. In any case, I only rip the tracks I like to iTunes and only my very favorites to FLAC. A lot of my listening however is playing the full CD in an extended critical listening session.
This way I get the best of both worlds - my libraries are lean and mean and I can still enjoy the "filler" in a complete album session.

I keep them but not for the reason you list, I like albums, I usually play them through. If I really hate something I might skip it when I'm listening, or if I really like another I might put it in a playlist, but usually it just plays through.

I rip full CDs and don't delete any tracks.
I guess I'm old school (well, just plain old really ) because I still prefer listening to albums start to finish, whether it's vinyl, CDs or digital files.

I rip EVERYTHING to FLAC. Storage space is cheap....and you never know when you might like something you didn't used to. I continually find "old" stuff that I hated then but is really good now.

I rip everything to FLAC. Like to keep the album in its entirety (creates lot of garbage though). Use playlists to group my favorites.

I RIP the entire album, and keep it. I find many times that a song I didn't like "grows on me" - or the opposite. (To me, doing anything else would be like buying a painting, then cutting out only the parts you especially like.) If I want to play just one or two songs, then I just play them; and, of course, I use PlayLists to make up sets of stuff I especially like.

I've never seen a poll with this much agreement! OK - The pros have spoken. Thanks!

I don't do much music, But I still have my collection. Its all digital and I ripped the whole disc. I used the rating system to separate my tracks to allow for a large random play list.

I keep the whole thing, because too often the "filler" tracks (as you call them!), are superior to the so called "hits". Or, I just get so tired of hearing the hits, I find myself skipping over those and listening to everything but! More interesting that way I think...
