I am hoping someone can help with my issue. I DO NOT think this is an XMC-1 problem, but someone may have run into this before so I am asking for help. I believe it to be HDCP / EDID related, but I am not that knowledgeable on the subject and am not sure how to fix it. A new TV is not yet in the budget, so I am looking for a reasonable solution for now.
Cable Box - - - - - - -> TV Input 1 Blu-Ray - -> XMC-1 -> TV Input 3 Xbox One > XMC-1 Dell PC - - > XMC-1
I have a Pioneer plasma PDP-5060HD 1080i (max. res.) display with PDP-R06U tuner combo – circa 2005. Out of the four or so inputs it has, two connections accept either component or HDMI. Both were set up as HDMI – see diagram above. The XMC-1 CEC has always been left to default (off). Everything worked fine via HDMI for at least two weeks or more after I received my XMC-1. I don’t know what day I went to v1.2 bios, but I know everything still worked after it installed. At some point the Blu-Ray and cable box stopped working over HDMI. I tried different cables, going direct to the TV, different power on sequences and even a factory reset of the TV. Nothing will allow the TV to display any kind of protected playback or allow any advanced audio modes.
My Sony HDMI out camcorder will play without any issue via HDMI (probably no hdcp requirement on home movies).
When I put an existing HDMI switch in between the Blu-Ray and the XMC-1, I can get video and generic 5.1 surround sound, but no Dolby HD or DTS MA. That switch was originally custom configured by Octava to always send multi-channel out the optical port if it was available (up to standard 5.1) regardless of how many channels the TV had, so that might be getting in the way. This switch was originally used before I had the XMC-1.
I received a new cable box from Verizon and upon hooking it up via HDMI, a big blue screen appeared and reported that my display has been compromised or something to that effect.
I tried our small 19” 1080p TV as the output device and everything worked fine as far as I could tell.
Has anyone had or been able to correct a problem like this before? It would be a real shame to have to live without HD audio so soon after getting my XMC-1.
Thanks,
Al

I had some problems with the HDMI hand shake after I did the 1.2 update a few weeks ago. My TiVo would not connect on HDMI when going through the XMC but would work when going direct to the TV. EMO tech had me reinstall the factory Firmware the reinstall my backup which seems to have solved the problems. EMO support is top notch, give them a call if you can't work it out.

Thanks Jking for your reply. I talked to Emo support before creating this post and they didn't really have any ideas. I didn't mention it in the post, but I did reflash / reload it - no change. The fact that I can't connect direct made me think the XMC-1 was not a factor.

Update on my situation in case someone runs into the same issue with their TV having handshaking issues with their other hdmi devices.
Everything I tried did not correct the issue. I found a product from HDFury (Splitter 4K UHD) $99 that was able to allow me to get back to where I was before my TV stopped handshaking with my Denon Blu-Ray. I needed new firmware to allow it to work correctly, but I can watch my movies and listen to my Hi-Def audio through the Blu-Ray like I could before, which was one of the main reasons I bought the XMC-1 in the first place. The device inserts between the TV and the XMC-1. I didn't do this for any other reason other than to allow the system to function as it normally should. I saved at least $400, since it was $500 flat rate to fix my plasma tuner box and I can now wait a while until 4k TVs can catch up with full HDMI 2.0 before thinking about uprgrading.

I just ran into the same problem with my new Marantz AV7702 and my old Mitsubishi RPTV (analog). I had for years used an HDFury device to allow an HDMI connection to this old analog HDTV that I bought in 2001. Now with the HDMI 2.0 of the AV7702, the TV/HDFury will no longer pass the HDMI signal. I have bypassed by using a separate HDMI matrix box to deliver a separate HDMI feed direct to the TV/HDFury and another feed to the AV7702 for sound. I hate the added complexity which pretty much prevents anyone in the household except me to use the equipment. A real backstep solvable only by betting a new television.
