Description:

Version 3.0.0 added a new port setupPortTCP to Transponder reply. This caused my XML parer to barf when encountered.

With no do*bleep*entation I have no idea what it's for. For now I just ignore it!

I got a copy of the XMC-1 IP protocol spec from another user. I will call Emotiva today for permission to re-post here, or perhaps they will add it.


At this time, I am writing a XML parser to decode the various returned packets. I have decoded the Ping packet info and am working on other areas as time permits.

Basically a super OSD and remote!

I have successfully decoded the Subscription and Notify packets, but not worrying about cosmetics at this point:

Well if you could share a demo app that would be nice. I would love to "test drive" it.

Also I'm curious how were able to configure the XMC-1 that it has got a usable IP-address of your home network.

I didn't manage to connect it successfully to my home network. It didn't work via automatically obtaining an IP-address or if I configured a fixed IP-address.

Mine worked 1st time obtaining an IP via DHCP.

You don't need a fixed IP! The app will acquire the true address via a broadcast (255.255.255.255) UDP request.

As I recall, there are some units where the check box for DHCP (on the XMC-1) works backwards; mine works correctly, but others have posted that their units work in reverse (checked means unchecked, and visa versa).

Great work thus far and not to derail you in anyway, but rather than a Windows application can this be browser based? This way it's not limited to a specific OS or OS version. If it's web based it might even work via a mobile device while connected to the same network.

To be browser based it would involve making the XMC-1 a web-server too. This is how many routers and IP "smart" devices work, you just go to http:\\address and the interface is there. Not something I can do, although it is IMO the best way to do it.

This is all secondary and for fun, as I don't expect Emotiva to spend time with this at this point. Bigger fish to fry - Dirac and other minor bugs!

It's coming.....

I don't use zone 2, but I would if it came out XLR-Balanced (suggestion for future processor). 50 feet is too long for RCA IMO to connect my other system.

Understood, but I thought that since most browsers are XML parsers, that some sort of script could trigger / parse the responses from the XMC-1 and therefore display the results.  Was just curious if it could be contained within the browser.  As I said, I didn't want to throw something at ya as this is simply spare time / fun for you and is appreciated... was just curious.

I notice you have eight input buttons plus Tuner. Is that right? The remote only has seven plus tuner. Having another would be great for some people.

Yes, but the XMC-1 front panel has 8. The 8th is 7.1 discrete input! Selecting the 8th from my app does work!

Sorry, needed more coffee. I'm not sure if this is possible, but rather than providing an application, that you might be able to supply a couple of web pages, code, script, etc that is self contained. The user copies the appropriate files to a folder on their system and then executes a file (HTML, BAT, CMD, etc.) from their system that provides the interface within a browser. This way, the reliance is on the browser instead of coding an app for a specific OS. The only item that would be user specific is IP address of the XMC-1 unless you don't require it.   Since the XMC-1 specs say control from PC / Mac, that rather than providing an application that it would be browser based.

Again, sorry if I derailed or confused you in any way... was trying to see if the OS could be taken out of the picture.
