I realize that Chuck. Point being I would change as needed. I'd offer the source up to others - just didn't want to have to start from scratch. It's light years ahead of VB6, BTW. Yes I understand. But, as I said previously, I find VB6 faster to prototype. I have had little problem making VB6 do anything I want. If VB6 doesn't have it, I just go to the WINAPI. This comes from years of supporting VB6 legacy programs. I plan to re-write the final app in C#. Alone, I guess.

Just let me finish this first pass.

No worries, I just found the Emotiva Network Remote Control protocols doc, the missing link. Good luck.

App is out to a few "beta" people. It should be up shortly depending on what turns up! Again great work! But a question: This "shortly" is that looking from Emotiva timeframe?

I've got 4 users beta testing the app. Once I get by this step I will post.
The biggest issues are going to be router issues in individual user's setups.
This is going to open a "bag of worms" issue for Emotiva once they release their iOS and Android apps too.

Interesting... what have you seen / encountered thus far? If on the same network, what could cause issues?

========= HERE IT IS ========= XMC-1 PC Remote Version 1.0.3Minimum requirements Windows XP SP3. Downloaded file is a zip file with the installer program as the only file. After installation a desktop icon and a startup program group will be created. Issues that the beta group found revolve mostly around network issues. Some needed to go to a static IP. Only non-working item is Zone 2 volume. Direct issues to this thread and not Emotiva!!!!!!

Just tried it out Chuck. Installed over the older version and it couldn't have gone smoother. Connection made and controls are working fine. Awesome job!

Outstanding app Chuck! All I had to do was execute the .exe as administrator and the install did the rest. I do use a static IP in the XMC, but the app seems smart enough to search the LAN and find the XMC-1. All the buttons/flippers click and rock!
Thanks for your time and effort, it's really appreciated.

Can you explain the network issues encountered during beta testing? My XMC-1 is set to static IP, I can ping it, but your tool fails to find it. It tries to open the GUI, but closes with a message indicating to make sure the XMC-1 is on or in standby.

It tries to open the GUI, but closes with a message indicating to make sure the XMC-1 is on or in standby. This is going to be a hard one to solve as I have installed it on 3 different machines on my network without issue. So this makes it difficult to debug. This is exactly what Eltwo ran into, but it worked fine from a laptop he had? It also seems to say that it is may be a workstation issue. I also suggest you scan your network from the workstation with Advanced IP Scanner and see if the XMC-1 is present. Could you write down your entire network configuration and send it? NOTE: The standby the error message refers to is "powered standby". If fully powered down the unit can't respond. Since this is an unofficial app, we may have to wait for Emotiva to release their apps.

I rely on my router.

Just got it working. Was an issue with the way my VM's network settings were defined (shared). Once I made the change (bridged), I was able successfully connect via the app from both XP and Windows 7. Very cool application Chuck... thanks for sharing! Now if there was only native OS X support... just kidding.
