I ordered an XPA-7 to go with a future purchase of an XMC-1 when it goes on sale to the public. I am wondering how people like it and how does the 2 channel output sound. I am going to run it now with a Denon 4311 and a Wyred4 sound STP-SE preamplifier. In the future I would like to replace both with the XMC-1 to cut down on my components. I f nobody has an XPA-7 I guess in a week or two I will be giving a review.

Would you be able to share your experience and input about the XPA-7? Your comment will be highly appreciated. Thanks and have a good weekend. Zhaohui

Read a review of an XPA-5 and you will have your review of the XPA-7 haha, 2ch has more power but that's the only difference I could see there being, just able to drive less efficient speakers better, I'm sure they will sound identical as they pretty much are

It's possible but IMO unlikely, from the XPA-2 gen1, XPA-5 gen1, XPA-5 gen2, XPA-1L's, UPA-500, UPA-200, UPA-1's and LPA-1 I have owned or own I have only noticed a very slight difference with the 1L's between the X series amps, the most noticeable difference to me betwwen all that I have owned is the difference between the U series and the X series, heck I wish I would have just kept my UPA-1's(the first Emotiva amps I owned) and I would be much richer today lol. I was also under the impression the XPA-7 has the same design modules as the XPA-5 and XPA-3 ? Chad

I just know the power supply is different, and the boards are different (as the XPA-5 boards were too big, it might just be a different layout, or possibly slightly different components.

My XPA-7 arrived Monday Nov. 10th, It took me a week to put it in service.I have only used it mostly for two channel so far because my Marantz 7702 did not arrive till this Monday. so far I am impressed with the two channel power. I run my analog thru a Wyred 4 Sound pre-amp and I cannot turn the volume above 35 on the pre-amp scale and I am playing at 100 decibles. The sound quality is very clear and the bass is tight. I think I have a winner here. Tonight I will try out Dolby Atmos with the Transformer movie encoded with dolby atmos.I know the movie is not very good but I wanted to hear Dolby Atmos. I am using a UPA-500 for my 4 ceiling speakers and the XPA-7 for the basic 7 channels for home theater. I will report again after more use.

My XPA-7 came on yesterday, Nov 25. I spent several hours trying to set it up with my Onkyo TX-NR809 using RCA cables for connection. Unfortunately, the amplifier shut down automatically during setting up and testing (error: status LED lies flashing red randomly, not sound as output). Below were some conditions that seemed triggering above error. The conditions included switching the input source in AVR (such as changing DVD player to radio function, changing DVD dishes, internet radio station changing music from one to another, changing calculating speaker by auto-calculation program,...I changing some RCA cables during the testing, no big changed was found.
I reported my error to Emotive today. After Emotiva team analyzing my case, below were suspected as potential cause for the issue: 1) ground fault; 2) AVR's RCA pre out signal not good ; 3) and "Sensitivity " of protection mode.
Emotiva might have considered to offer me a return or exchange another one with slightly low "Sensitivity " of protection mode (if possible).
Thanks to Emotiva staff offering great help for my case!
I hope my bad experience would not happen to another person else.
Your input will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.
Happy Thanksgiving Holiday!
