Well after 3 years of wanting this piece of gear,I finally got one. In an extreme case of irony I got the exact one I listened to years ago as a dealer demo purchase off of ebay.
This is one great piece of gear. It is an all-in-one Integrated Amp/DAC/Streamer... For the Emotiva initiated it is a Mini-X/StealthDac/Streamer/Headphone Amp with internet and FM Radio built in. It is less power at 30W than the mini-x.
Simply put this device sounds amazing with the right speakers. It is dynamic and full. It has drive and detail. Pearl Jam??? Sounds Awesome, Norah Jones?? Sounds sweet. When paired with my Soliloquy 5.0 monitors it is a great combination. They are 10 Ohm, 88 dB efficient.
I actually prefer my Sonus Faber Venere 1.5 speakers for my music listening. The Qute could not really grab hold of them like it did the Soliloquy. With the Qute you can turn off the amp and I am using it as just a source to my Rogue Audio Cronus... Holy cannoli. Awesome and awe inspiring...
It is so easy to use. I just plugged in a flash drive into the front USB and I am reading FLAC file right off of the memory stick. Also did connect to a couple different uPnp servers and it works well. I swear the direct connected sounds better.
The reason for my post??? Not just to brag... It is to beg Big Dan to come up with something close. New these are $2400!!! Not a paltry sum. I got mine for well below that. I have to think that Emotiva could produce something like this for around a grand. Mini-x - $250, Stealth DAC- $500, Streaming functions.....
Come on man, it is a simple integrated solution.. Add memory stick, speakers and you are listening to high quality music... Also can use the included remote to select music... Not just the darn iPad/pod.
