Just recently purchased a pair of Airmotive 6's along with an XDA 2 . I thought it was a matter of click ,clack just sit back and enjoy not endure but no After many hours of trial and error I still don't know how they sound going via an Apple 3 . I have the ATV 3 connected to the tv via a hdmi cable , an optical cable from the ATV3 to optical in 1 on the back of the XDA 2 . The 6's connected to the RCA inputs on the XDA 2 . I get video OK but to my extreme frustration the only audio I can get so far is the the TV itself at present . Surely it can't be too hard . Thanks

Thanks Sorry to hear, have you checked the settings on the ATV3?. is there is a signal , you should only have to select it on the XDA-2. Have you tried any other input to the DAC?

Is the TV sound coming from the TV itself or have you been able to feed the TV audio into the DAC?
Make sure the volume is turned up on the Airmotiv 6's. Push in on the black knobs and they should pop out. I would leave them all the way up. Use the XDA-2 to control the volume.
As far as the Apple TV, you may check and see if Dolby Digital is turned off.

Ok so you've got the XDA set to Optical 1, do you see any bitrate information on the XDA display? Have you tried Optical 2 (in case 1 is bad)? Have you tried a different TOSLink cable (in case the first is bad)? Can you, turn the volume down on the AM6's, unplug the RCA at the XDA and tap the hot lead on the RCA as you turn the volume up, do you hear a hum? Yes? Cable and AM6 are good, No, troubleshoot there.

I had delivered to me ($400) here in OZ for my daughters birthday, which was a week ago , 2 Airmotive 6 S speakers and I cannot see any apparent push in volume knobs on these speakers I purchased all cables , both Toslink and Rca cables from Emo with the Xda 2 and AIR 6S's I have swapped from Opt 1 to Opt 2

Turn up the volume on the 6's ? Push in what black knobs? I was picturing the first generation models where there is a push button volume knob on the front. Page 7. emotiva.com/resources/manuals/airmotiv6_manual.pdfLooks like you may not have this model though.

Finally heard them. I disconnected then reconnected everything this time using OPT in2 on the XDA2 from the APT3 , turned it on again then bingo!!! I must say that I am very impressed with what I have heard (and I am fairly hard to impress) Well done Emotiva as this combo is sensational value for dollar but more importantly sensational on the ears. Many thanks to jlafrenz , redog, AudioHTIT and Novisnick for your help and advice . Cheers fellas
