I think that listening music is all about our feeling and mind spirit of the moment, so it's very personal and hard to share at distance with others in the lounge. Ed if you're willing to make the trip to Montreal or if you ever pass for vacation or work, you are very welcome to listen music at home around a drink of your choice and it will be a nice occasion for me to practice my English and more appropriate to discussing musical taste!

Well said. Music is very personal to me. I learned very early in my life that the music I liked was not liked by the people around me. I would not make a good DJ.

The "Currently Playing" thread has over 160,000 views, surely must be one of the most visited threads on this forum. I visit it at least once per day, post occasionally, sometimes tick the like box, but hardly ever comment. Music taste to me is very personal and as Francois elegantly put it "spirit of the moment". As such it's unlike most threads on here, where I feel that I can help and/or be helped technically. After all this is Emotiva's site and as such is very much gear focused, I'm not aware of them putting down some tracks or recording an album. Maybe a "Best of the Podcasts" CD is on the way.
Cheers Gary

I do read these threads about music that people post. I then decide if I feel like checking out some of that depending on my mood and music preferences (which are very diverse). I do not usually comment in those threads (other than the "Currently Playing" thread) because really there's not much to say. I either like the music in which case I give the OP's post a thumbs-up ("like") or I simply move on. I don't post that I don't like it because music is a personal thing.

There is a lot more discussion here for a couple of reasons. While the intended use is for music (or movie) listening, Emotiva makes equipment, not the source material. The second is that people tend to have more questions about equipment. They seek guidance on proper pairing with the rest of equipment, connection, setup, etc... This really isn't necessary with music. If people seek advice for new music, there is generally a thread where a member asks for artist of a certain genre. The currently playing thread is a good place to check out what others are listening to. It seems the common theme around here is that people check it out and if they like it they listen and if not they don't and move on. That is my take on it anyway.

I do hope that the OP isn't discouraged by the lack of responses and wouldn't stop creating these threads/posts. Even if I take a liking to some of the artists it's worth it for me. I hope others feel the same way and derive value from these threads.

I too listen all the time but I post in currently playing and have been doing so for some 4 years. I think it is the forum standard to learn new music. Many of us post the album art and link to music review site so you can sample. The BB code to that is this; [url=paste link here between brackets][img]paste image link here between brackets][/img][/url] example for Counting Crows new album would be this; [url=http://www.allmusic.com/album/somewhere-under-wonderland-mw0002698678][img]http://cps-static.rovicorp.com/3/JPG_400/MI0003/781/MI0003781665.jpg?partner=allrovi.com][/img][/url] If I remove the CODE brackets you would see this; You can't see the code brackets but that is how you can share coding techniques. If you quote my post then you will see the code bracket. It takes me all of 10 seconds to cut and paste that in when I post. Now click on the album art and go to All Music or whatever site you use. Now use currently playing to share what you like. Do not feel bad Porscheguy as no one likes my stuff either save a few but that is not the point. As you never know what might strike you till you try. "]In terms of reviews I really believe music is too subjective. I do not always agree with the All Music critics but I do notice it. It will not matter to me how good a country album is going to be as I won't like it, and same with rap but on our currently playing thread no music gets criticized unless it is playful like someone posting Tiny Tim will get teased maybe have not seen it yet.

I stream a lot of music, and listen to the 70s 80s & 90s stations. mostly Pop and Rock. after these sessions I'll find and come across a band I liked twenty years ago that I had completely forgotten about. I can peruse the artist's / groups selection to listen to the group a bit more.

I listen two four to five hours of music a week. Sometimes more. I have posted as noted by someone earlier in the "currently playing" thread much of the music I listen too, however I do not feel that I have to post every bit of music that I listen to on a daily business basis. Sometimes it is time restricted. I get on the Emotiva site three or for times a day and choose not to post either b/c of time or I have nothing to bring to the table. Your question about whether people on this forum listen to music should have never been ask since all you had to do is check out members post on the "currently playing" thread. People on this forum DO LISTEN TO MUSIC...lots of it, but first and foremost it is an audio video forum. Music is a filler.

Does this mean I get to comment again? I've been laying low on your music posts as I know that we disagree often.
