Hello guys last month I bought 2 XPA1-L now after trying them I decided to take a set of Paradigm Studio for my home theater, which amp should I take to create a 7.1?
I had thought a XPA-5 but any other advice or suggestions would change my mind !! As I bought a pre-Marantz AV 7702 with Atmos so as amp speakers to ceiling What should I buy? Thanks for the replies

I run solely a 5.1 system in which I now use the Stealth 6 speakers as my mains, I have had 2 XPA-1L's and an XPA-5 running my 5.1 system in the past and it worked really really well, I used the 1L's for my mains and the XPA-5 powered my center, rears and two outdoor speakers on Zone 2, I am not familiar with Atmos and prob never will be so I'm not sure how many channels Atmos is but the XPA-7 would bring you up to 9 channels. I would say try and stay in the XPA line as I myself found the UPA amps a little less punchy than the XPA series but for those extra Atmos channels that may or may not be an issue as I wouldn't think they are as important sound wise as the main channels are, hope that helps Chad

You say you bought "a set of Paradigm Studio for my home theater" and you want "to create 7.1", does this mean you now have a set of 7 Paradigm Studio speakers? You also mention that you bought a Marantz AV7702 and you are going to install speakers in the ceiling, what Atmos setup will you be going with? a 7.1.4 configuration? If so, in addition to the XPA-1L's, you'll need a total of 9 additional channels of amplifier power. Are you thinking of driving the center/side surrounds/back surrounds with the XPA-5? You'll need another 4 channels for the Atmos speakers if I'm assuming correctly that you'll be going with the 7.1.4 configuration, and those 4 Atmos speakers won't be demanding power-wise so a UPA-500 would be more than enough.

Good advice Chad! fabris74, welcome to our/your forum. So glad your here! Look at my sig,,,,,, Paradigm Studios,,,check MONOBLOCK s,,,,,,check,,,,I do have XPA-1Ls,just not listed XPA-5,,,,,,,,,,,,check Either run the rest of the AVRS or other amps, U series 5 or 7 should take care of the other channels. I'm not that knowledgeable about Atmos yet, but I do understand there will be plenty of speakers, I'm running 11.6 now, eventually I'll go that route,,,,maybe. Great to have you here and would be most glad to answer any more questions you may have. PS,,,,love the Studio 100s in Rosenut.

I completely agree! My hights speakers run on a set of Sherbourn 2/150, they don't put out but 75wpc. More then enough power. One of those amps are driving a set of Bose 901s and produce all that is needed, and then some. 50 wpc in my estimation would be more then enough power,,,,,,,,my two cents. 8)

For now I have two XPA-1L and pre Marantz. The Paradigm I have yet to hear them but for now I still have a few months to decide because I'm renovating the house. The preparation of the room for Atmos will be for the 7.1.4 then the ideal solution is XPA-5 for the center and surround and UPA-5 for Atmos thanks for the advice to all of you and for the great availability. Tomorrow contact support for a quote for international shipping (Italy) so I take advantage of discounts of these days ... thanks again

I just wanted to suggest the same thing when I read this, I'm with you, XPA-5 and UPA-500 later for atmos ceiling speakers. (But the UPA-500 is absent from the website at this moment, is it discontinued?)
