Back in the audiophile world again and have a questio, probably posted already many times but here it is. XPA-3 gen 2 or XPA-5 gen 2? I am using Denon X-4000 driving Paradigm Studio 20-v5 LR, CC590 and Axiom Q8s in the back and have some $$$ to spend. I used to have a UPA7 and loved it but had to downsize a few years ago. I like movies at reference level in my 12x18x7.5 room with SVS sub. I feel my RCVR may not be enough for the surrounds? If I get the 3 then that leaves the door wide open for monos in the future for the fronts. Or the XPA-5 may satisfy my thirst? Small steps to sonic heaven are in my future. Thanks for any and all comments. Steve

I would go XPA-5 and amplify all channels. You can still add monos in the future and just use the XPA-5 for the other three, or have the option to go seven channels if you want. If I got an XPA-3 for my 5 channel system, I know that in about a week I would wish I had an amp on the surrounds.

Thanks for the suggestions, I really appreciate them. I know if I don not go with the XPA5 I will wonder what the surrounds would sound like with more power. Used in an option as there are some for sale here and there but I wonder if GEN2 might be the way to go due to upgrades??

XPA-5 FTW! Especially if multi channel stereo is a consideration. Also I have a bias for it, it just plain rocks. 7 channels. The XPA-2 and XPA-5 are great amps.

For just another $200.00, why wouldn't you go for the XPA-5? Well worth the investment. And If the unthinkable happens,,,,you later sell the amp, the -5 will sell so much faster then the -3, it'll bring a few more dollars as well. There's my two cent deposit,,,,he,,,,he,,,,he,,,,,,, 8)

I agree with your assessment novisnick. Gathering funds as I type, XPA-5 in my near future. Any idea when the sale will be over? Do past customers get some type of break?
Thanks guys for your input.

HA, fun fun fun, love the comments. I can't wait to unbox the beast, good thing my wife has been going to the gym. The 3 with monos was definitely a choice, and probably in the future, but space is sooooo limited in my theater/living room, WAF would have been stressed. Grey hair on my head has taught me not to push WAF. HA :>)
