I currently own the 1st gen Xpa-2 along with the umc-200 and the dc-1 pushing a pair of Energy RC-70s. I couldn't be happier. The sound is surreal ! The gen . 2 will replace the gen. 1 which will be moved to another system,, gotta have it ! For anyone wondering about the Xpa-2 , it's a no brainer. Absolutely the most bang for the buck in hi fi land ! Power, finesse, detail, soundstage, you name it . It's all there.

I just got mine yesterday. You are right, currently it's the absolute "best bang for the buck" available.

Amazing amplifier. I had the gen 1. Loved it, loved it, loved it. Bang for the buck is an under statement. It will rock your world in music, and theater. Congratulations on your new XPA-2.

I have a XPA-2 Gen1 and was going to get Gen2 but I think I'll spring for 2 XPA-1s.

Out of the box it was cold from being in ups. truck. I was really hoping it would sound at least as good as the first gen. Xpa-2 . At first start it sounded pretty well , especially being very cold. Each hour the sound improved greatly and after the third hour I started thinking this seems to sound a tad better than the first gen. My worries were put to rest. Its now about 20 hrs. old and it sounds fantastic to my ears ! Not taking anything away from 1st gen. but 2nd gen seems to have a slightly more relaxed sound with even greater detail. Something to do with the output gain reduction from 32db to 29db. ?? Soundstage seems to have improved too. Again these improvements are slight but noticeable. My dad's first comment was greater detail. Anyone else noticed the difference?

I got my XPA-2 Gen 2 a couple of weeks ago. Put it into my credenza hooked it up to my Onkyo TX-NR905 receiver and wham! all the punch I was looking/hoping for.
Last weekend I cranked it up for the first time. Threw on Blue Oyster Cult's "A Long Day's Night" DVD, whipped out my trusty Radio Shack SPL Meter and got a consistent 106db with 116 peaks. My city was "... On Flame with Rock and Roll". Now I have a problem. My credit card wants me to order the XPA-5 to take on the other 5 channels. The temptation is great. Try as I must, I don't know if I can resist.

The grammar curmudgeon here -
"Anxiously" awaiting implies distress and anxiety. I think the adverb you're searching for is "Eagerly." But what do I know? LOL

I bought a second xpa-2 and tried them as monoblocks for my fronts. Although it sounded great , the sound to my ears is even better with vertical bi-amping. Incredible is putting it mildly. You can easily get carried away, but its worth it !

My dad's first comment was greater detail. Anyone else noticed the difference?Yes. Lots of detail. Very neutral - not colored. I was first running it on my AR90s with a Rotel RC-1082 pre. During the Summer Sale I purchased the SA-250 and an XSP-1 G2. I found that the bass was better. However, I was using a different pre; so not a fair test. So now I've been contemplating trying the XPA-2 G2 with the XSP-1 G2. Just to see if the SA-250 is actually better. I have yet to try the SA-250 on the 23dB gain setting. What should I expect to hear for differences?

So, as frenchyfranky and novisnick pointed out, "resistance WAS futile". I integrated the new XPA-5 into my system last Friday night. I am extremely happy now. My back, not so much. Good thing I had a hand truck to get these beasts up the stairs... Got some new (warranty replacement) subwoofer amps for my Def Tech BP7006's last night. I installed them and threw "The Eagle" Blu-ray on to test everything out. Well, the XPA-5 lit up the 4 surround channels just as I was hoping it would. And of course the XPA-2 led the way. Now, if I throw on another Concert Blu-ray I'm so sure the pictures will need to come off of the walls before I even get started! Hmmm, It's October. Halloween is coming up. What would be fitting. Scary music? I know, Black Sabbath's "Gathered in Their Masses" Blu-ray! That'll get the "popo" over! Ah, I can hear it now... "What is this that stands before me..." Also, I'm going to see The Blue Oyster Cult this weekend at The Cabot Theater in Beverly MA. Should be great!

Hi all, I have had my XPA-2 G2 for right at 1 year. I am running 2 of them in mono mode on GoldenEar Triton one's. I am also using an XPA-1L on the center channel GE SCXXL. The 2 channel sound is fantastic!!! The XPA-2's have PLENTY of power for these efficient speakers. Clean clear sound, wide and deep imaging. Crisp instruments and vocals, very impressive. Would not swap them for any other amps. Well maybe a XPR-1s:) Surround sound is fantastic as well powerful peaks and clear clean sound. I have turned these up as far as I could stand with NO distortion what so ever. I have never taken them into the red LED's and wont, tooooo loud.
