Well i've had my Onkyo 505 for 7 years and not one single issue ever, maybe because it's pre-2009? Anyways, i want to make a change mainly because it's still HDMI 1.3 and a few other older features so it's time to update, this Fusion 8100 is high on my list. I've read mixed bag reviews about the fusion or people in other forums say that Emotiva has always made good amps but stay away from their pre/pro's…either way, i'm just trying to figure out if i want or will use all the 'bells and whistles' on the mainstream units. Also, can anyone comment on the Fusion's 'Advanced Room Correction' system and how it compares to Audssey, YPAO etc, is the Fusion's any good? To the original OP, would love to hear your honest opinions about the Fusion. My fusion 8100 shipped today from Emotiva, I will post my opinion next week once I set it up.

pallpoul, if you have not ever heard Emotiva's audio gear you are going to be pleasantly impressed. That 65 watts all channels are going to be plenty. Just got my Fusion 8100 tonight, not installed yet and never heard it but I have a usp-1 and upa-2 and it is all in the family. I already know my review of the Fusion 8100 is going to be "yup, just what I thought". I am a die hard penny pincher but have more money than Davy Crockett and would not have bought anything else but Emotiva gear after the years of listening to my usp-1 and upa-2 open and clean sound. It is a very smart buy is all I can say. Ty axis and ty'all for the VERY HELPFUL input. I am not new to Emotiva, just too lazy to update my digital sig. I own xpa-2, upa-2, upa-200, xpa-200, upa-1, usp-1, xda-1, xd-2, Emotiva speakers: floor standing ( which I love) and incelilngs 6.2 and 8.2, mini x-100's # 3, and erc-1, and owned few sherbourn pieces as well. I just have not heard the a/v receiver line from Emotiva yet. I have tried the SR-120 from sherbourn and had to return it as it died on me within 3 days. I own the sherbourn pt 7020a pre amp and it is excellent. I would appreciate if you can detail your experience with the fusion 8100 once you've had the chance to listen to it. pallpoul, I installed my Fusion 8100 yesterday and here to report my experience. Not very much to report as far as problems other than when I turned the unit on for the first time. It was my problem not understanding the unit. With first power on or anytime power is removed from unit it appears to go through a power check. The power light goes red and a click is heard and the power light flashes several times and then goes to solid red. I thought the unit was telling me there was a fault so I disconnected and checked my connections for shorts. For fear of causing any serious issues I repeated this several times each time I tried to power up. The third time when I was sure that there were no shorts I waited after the power light came on solid then flashed and went back to solid and then pressed the power button again and the unit booted up fine. Now I know that if I ever loose power or disconnect power the unit is going to do a self check and if the power light goes back to solid red all is well. After that the unit power light goes from solid red (standby) to blue and boots up. After first boot up I went directly to the menu and then to Speaker setup. I set my speaker size's and distance's manually and turned off the speaker outputs not used. I connected the supplied setup microphone, placed it at the prime listening position and selected Auto/EQ in the menu. This first sets and checks all the speakers for polarity, size and distance. After it completes that setup it reports the results and everything was A OK so I selected next. There was a test for ambient noise and if that is good it said be quit and I was and got out of the way. It went thru a rather long process of sending test tones at different levels for each speaker and set the EQ's. I remember Big Dan talking about this and was really impressed at how it worked. After that is complete it reports the results and ask if you want to perform some manual adjustments and or save the Auto EQ's. I pressed save and tuned the unit off. I powered the Fusion back up along with my Direct TV box and had a listen. I went back to the menu and checked to see all the settings for the speakers and EQ were still there and good and they were. I already knew my speaker distance and the size I wanted for them and the Auto setup agreed spot on for everything. The distance for the speakers were improved on by disciple points and before I ran the Auto setup I had set all the speaker size's as large and the Auto setup agreed and kept all speakers as large. The sound is fantastic ! It is very clear and balanced tonally. I will not be adjusting the EQ manually because I am very happy with the sound the Auto EQ provided. I hooked my Harmony 650 remote to my pc and set it up with Emotiva Fusion 8100 settings and gave it a test run. I have a Direct TV box and a OPPO 103 connected HDMI 1 and 2 and HDMI out to my Samsung TV. I turned everything off and on standby and selected watch TV on my Harmony remote and everything booted up great. It took about 5 to 6 secs and there were no clicks or screeching, every worked as advertise ! Next while the TV was on I pressed Watch DVD on my Harmony remote and again Everything Worked Fine as advertised. Again it took 5 to 6 secs before all the input settings changed and the OPPO booted up and again there were No Clicks Or Screeching ! That's all I have to say. Cheers, everyone.

Ty Axis for posting your experience. glad to hear all went well. Can you comment on video and PQ? Are you using a 5 or 7 ch. set up.? Picture quality is just like going from source to display. That is one of the things I checked. It was easy to do and I could not tell any difference. I use mains, center and just two surrounds. I live in an apartment and a subwoofer with the LFE that are in movies would be way to much disturbance for the neighbors. My Sony speakers are not your normal Sony speakers and have plenty of impact without a subwoofer. With just the 65 watts I feed them they do not come close to any strain and often scare to crap out of me with the thunderous sound that comes out of them watching a DVD or Blu-ray movie with heavy effects in them. I am 10 feet from my mains and 5 feet from my surrounds sitting in the very center of the sweat spot with my one single guy recliner setup. I am in surround heaven and do not have to share it with anyone. Sorry, but any guest at my place only gets left over surround sound, unless it's a pretty babe then she gets to sit in the sweet spot so she will be sweet to me !
