Welcome to the Lounge. Looks like you've made some good choices to me. Join E-Club and save even more, I say go for it especially if you can do it now while their on sale. Good luck j.

Welcome! I have a similar setup (B&W Speakers) with the XPA-2 for the mains and XPA-5 for center / surrounds and couldn't be happier. I originally had the UMC-1 and upgraded to the XMC-1 and to me, the improvement was well worth the cost. If you can swing the XMC-1, go for it; otherwise, what you have listed looks like a great combination.

Nothing at all wrong with your plans, but maybe a few suggestions. Keeping in mind that, unlike most audio gear, power amplifiers last a long time, decades is not uncommon. So it pays to consider any future wants and needs. Firstly I had an XPA-2 + XPA-3 combo and changed to an XPA-5 for space reasons and I honestly notice no difference. I put this down to the XPA sound being similar across the range plus the XPA-2 (300 WPC with 2 Channels Driven) is hardly more powerful than an XPA-5 (275 WPC with 2 Channels Driven). So that is a consideration, just the single XPA-5 doing the 5 channels for a space and $ saving.
The second suggestion would be to consider a pair of XPA-1L's in lieu of the XPA-2. That does give a sound upgrade from the XPA-5 based on some side by side testing I've done of an XPA-1L that I currently have in for service. The 35 watts of Class A is very useful plus the usual monoblock advantage off being able to locate each amp amp in close proximity to its speaker. Short speaker cable and long interconnect seems to work better for me than the reverse.
Thirdly if there is any chance that you might want to go to 7.1 or can use the extra 2 channels for another Zone then you might want to consider the XPA-5 versus the XPA-3, on a cost per channel basis the XPA-5 is unbeatable value.
Lastly I probably shouldn't leave out the XPA-7, for the same reason as above, its power in 2 channel use, future expansion and/or additional Zone.
Whilst noting the above, you can take some comfort in knowing that there are no bad decisions in regards to Emotiva amplifiers, and that if you do ever want to upgrade they hold their value extremely well and sell fast.
Merry Xmas Gary

Unless you want to listen at levels that make your ears bleed the amp would be the last thing I would upgrade.

thanks for all your oomments and advice. Im leaning more on XPA 3 than XPA 5 for my center and 2 rears. My living is not that huge and XPA 5 cost $200 more. Is there a huge difference sound wise if you watch movie with 5.1 vs 7.1?

Significant difference?,that's up to the listener, but the XPA-5 would also be great for a possible zone 2 some day! how many great two channel 200 watt amps can you purchase for $200.00? ? Just saying!!! Edit; I forgot to welcome you to our little corner of the web!! Great fun and friends to find here!!!

I say sell your system and get the XPA 7 channel amp. If you just use 5 channels now it is nice to know the other 2 are there for an upgrade
