Hi All A friend to whom I recommended an Emotiva system bought a UMC200 and UPA700 combo a few months back. He now has fault condition on the UPA 700, and apparently it will not play at all.
He is bringing it to me after xmas, and I'll have a look. We are in Australia so one of the first things I will check are all the cable connections inside, in case a slightly loose (from the international shipping) connection is the issue.
Is there a way to "reset" the microprocessor controller?
Failing that, and aside from the obvious shorted input and/or output connections, what else should I check before looking at a service agent in Australia. Want to avoid shipping back due to costs....
Any assistance would appreciated.
Cheers Tim

First check the fuse my friend,,,,,, 8) Thank you, yes will check that. But apparently all the LEDs are on, just showing red, which would indicate power is ok, at least to that point. Cheers Tim

There are multiple fuses.Usually there is a seperate fuse for the front panel and others for the amplifier section.

Can anyone enlighten further? I have UPA-700 sitting dormant for a long time. I hooked it up and got about 20 hours (most) out of it, mainly for TV/movie watching. Then, out of the blue, nothing. Wasn't tripped as I wasn't pushing it. All 7 blue lights on the front still lit. I unhooked it from the pre-amp and tried a couple of channels - just using an ipod with cables - still nothing.
Could a fuse(s) cause this? Maybe there is a problem with my receiver pre-outs - Pioneer Elite VSX-33...
I have not 'yet' looked under the hood of the UPA-700. Still under warranty. I don't really want to go through the trouble of shipping it.
I'm not really a technical person, I just like nice sound. Any insight greatly is appreciated.

This shouldn't be happening.. I suspect it's a setup error making sure that all the correct cables going in to the amp and the going out to the speakers are all connected.

Start with the simple. Check all connections and cables first. Next review your setup.

Check fuses. My XPA-5 did a similar thing a couple of times. All lights are blue and work but amp seems dead. Change a couple of fuses and all worked well.

Thanks garbulky, Well, it was working fine for about 20 hours - all nice new cables from pre-outs to UPA-700 channels. Sound was fantastic. Then one day nothing. All 7 channel lights were blue. That's when I tried a different sources on some of the channels, with different cables. Will one channel (or 2 channels) work if that is the only one that is being fed? I scoured the internet looking for a technical diagram of the UPA-700 - in an attempt to see where the fuses are and what fuses I might need - no luck. If I get some time soon I will attempt to call tech support to see what they have to say. Thanks again.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I will attempt contact with Emotiva tech support. If that is not fruitful I may pull the top off to see if I can see any blown fuses.
